What do people not get?

New World is funded for 10 years. This was said in the launch video.

I have +5K hours (not counting alpha and the 2 betas).

I have set pvp bis (and it takes time, but I have it).
I have set pve bis for each type of dungeon.
I have all the farm sets.
I have all the crafter sets.
I have all the trophies in the game.
I have lvl +200 in all professions.
I have, almost, all the weapons in the game, and I have an encore weapon of each type for pvp and pve.
and things changing, means I have more interesting things to do than just a 30 minute influence race for a war of broken buildings, and so predictable it’s boring.
at least a little challenge from time to time is good.
And whoever doesn’t agree with the changes, I don’t know why they take so long to uninstall and leave in silence. Here, tears are not important to anyone.

70% of the player base will, apparently.

How can you actually hold a straight face while typing what he typed? My word.

Next we’ll get people telling us the BB cartridge fix is actually a BB damage buff…

No wait… that already happened as well…

Lol I don’t understand how something that gives more damage isn’t a buff, like I understand it’s a bug fix, but it gives more damage so it’s acting like a buff.

Remember when the gutted FS the first time not to early into the game. It came with a bug fix where Pilar was double procing damage. That fix coupled with the actual nerfs made FS irrelevant.

So your arguing semantics

Not everybody is going to put 5k hours into the game. Not everybody has the time like that. It’s pretty simple, bruiser was the most played build by the community, they gutted it. Most people won’t re-roll, population will continue to decline. Pretty simple.

Nope. Many of these types of players think they are above adapting to balance changes.

Firestaff isn’t played as heavily, because it was gutted early enough people didn’t have BIS gear sets for it. Whereas bruiser has always been viable, and always been an essential build in both pve and pvp. You’re now gutting a build thousands of people use and have geared over their time playing to be borderline useless in war. It’s not a hard concept to process I don’t think? Unless I’m completely wrong and I have no clue what I’m talking about because I don’t have the time to put in 5k hours

… another robot found

That’s exactly what will happen LOL, people will try to adapt; build a set somehow with how many options there is to make money! And then they’ll gut bb, repeat.

There may be long term success in the PvE realm of things sure. But if you gut builds consistently, people will continue to leave because there’s not one viable method of obtaining multiple COMPETITIVE SETS (this entire thread geared towards wars at the top level).

You’ll have your hardcore PvErs that will stay though they love you guys

I enjoy the forums rn. In the dev vid, they did say they are going to be stirring the pot and hoped the meta will change.

Congrats dev! The pot is stirred! You need more oregano!

What’s gonna happen when the community realises the meta will change in season 2 and so on?

Honestly, I’m happy they’re shaking up the game, but moving grit to 300 con I feel is a little too extreme… I’m worried it’ll push the meta to even more ranged.

I’d much rather see them put grit on 200 con. That way light/medium bruisers have to sink a few extra points into con, but still are able to do a decent amount of damage. Otherwise, pretty much every BIS melee weapon becomes worthless.

This will hurt melee DPS in mutations either way.

200 con grit would be tough cause they’d have to make sure it only worked for melee or you’d have firestaves with grit, but I do agree. It’s just an extreme change, I’m all for meta shifts it makes every game change and feel more interesting/theory crafting etc. Drastic once every 6 month changes aren’t an ideal way of doing things.

3 months is how often META rotation will occur.

That is what was said in their vid

The light armor meta being so dominant for so long was why a lot of people left too. At least with all the changes it allows people to play the weight class and builds that they want to play.

I wouldn’t worry, 300 str now has a big damage boost, and many melee abilities also have grit built into them. The “nerfs” are simply separating CC and dmg abilities, which are not just melee weapons, it’s all weapons.

Hammers are used for the CC, they still have all the CC. People will now either use the 300 str and do even more damage or they will go 300 con and do slightly less damage but be harder to kill. Melee will always have a place in the meta for every game mode.

I wouldn’t worry about people quitting the game, I imagine even more people will come back to the game once they read these changes and how good they are.

Pretty sure a big part of this 70% you say actually won’t care much about meta changes and can adapt to a slight different playstyle. Instead of doing the same thing over and over and over and over…

sure let’s hope

No and frankly the change is great.

Is there really a video of this?
