DPS role often brings the bottom of the barrel, that isn’t to say there aren’t good ones, but the idea of support roles often seems to much for people, the ones that choose dps because it’s easiest are usually the ones incapable of not standing in front of the boss, don’t kill adds, dont peel for healer, don’t use potions, etc. The worst is the ranged dps that don’t let the tank initiate the pull, then i spend the whole fight spam healing into someone with a plastic bag for armor, while he runs around trying to survive, then the worst part… they do it all over again as if no lesson could possibly ever be drilled into their skull.
Imagine complaining about pve.
Accept the facts PVE players are just bad
thats not human nature thats human immature and common in western societies ^^
if someone dies its the teams fault, we fight and die together.
gamers are too often selfish and egotistical and lack social competencies, thats all.
To be fair - not all DPS are morons. However, pretty much all the morons play DPS because it’s a shared job so they can hope the other two DPS in the group will cover for their incompetence.
It’s not a western issue, I see this behaviour from people all over the world.
My 2 cents on this:
- oh yes, they do: standing next to the mob/boss spamming damage skills as fast as fingers allow it because that is the very definition of DPS
- of course, mitigating or - even more bad - dodging reduces DPS significantly
- this is because the tank s*cks, he can’t keep up with the aggro the DPS produces

have to kinda agree with attix here or, the boss’s have weird aggro pull, when I’m in armine as a musket/hatchet dps, no matter what anyone else does, on the final boss I will always get the aggro,

Genius post. Doesn’t even matter if this was ironic, you really made my day, mate!
Part of the DPS job/responsibility is to NOT go 100% if it will pull aggro. Spamming ability “as fast as your fingers will allow” is bad play.
Next time I’m gonna mark my post with a big fat blinking IRONY / SARCASM tag. Sorry I didn’t do that in the first place.
It’s like this in every MMO since forever. Everyone does everything to make our job harder and when something goes wrong we are the first to get blamed. When in a good group or you pull everyone’s butts out of the fire by the skin of your teeth it’s all worth it.
Ok, by bad… I legit read that as you blaming the tank when DPS is going ham.
No no. This is exactly the reason @darkskynight’s post made me rolling on the floor. He’s either far better than me in being ironic or he just proofs the DPS’ menthality we’re talking about to the fullest.
i hope nobody got offended and if you did i don’t actually care

A lot of DPS players have been spoiled by certain other games where the aggro mechanic has been simplified to “any ability the tank uses makes all of the mobs stick to him like glue” and the DPS job is simply to output as much damage as possible without having to worry about pulling aggro or having to CC or off-tank mobs that get away from the tank.
Pro tip: New World is not one of those games. Players will need to adapt to how things work here… or I suppose they can go and cry on the forums about how the aggro mechanics are “broken” and New World sucks.
Truth!
Many MMO’s have completely Dumbed Down the tanking skill and made threat and aggro a “press one button and win” system. Which as a Tank I hate it because Tanking used to require actual skill and knowledge of mechanics to be good. Now in most MMO’s its press your taunt button and take a nap.
As a consequence of Dumbing Down the threat and aggro mechanic, we now have an endless supply of DPS that have no idea how either works. If New World is actually going to have threat and aggro mean something, then we will have to retrain our DPS kids.
I had been waiting for Pantheon - Rise of the Fallen for a chance to be a real tank again, but maybe New World will fill that dream (since Panthoen may or may not ever release).
Oughtta say… you gotta be either real brave or real stupid to trash talk your healer or your tank. Your party is absolutely nothing without either/both of those roles and they’re not exactly abundant from what i’ve seen.
Yeah, I will never talk trash about any other player I’m grouped with as I always assume I’m the worst player
. I enjoy tanking and healing both so understand both sides of the coin when it comes to heals.
It sucks you get bad people to group with. I always look for groups that indicate they’re new players or actual friends. Don’t have any RL friends playing though so I rely on new players. I prefer inexperienced groups so that we can all learn, fight and win together or die together. The problem becomes patience after awhile. So finding a team that’s committed is the trick.
I’ve always thought LFG should allow for players to categorize their playstyles. Examples: Noob - Slow and see the sites, Moderate - Been here before still learning, Experienced - Speed running fool! Something along those lines. This immediately sets the expectations. If players rank themselves then hopefully it would group them with like minded players.
Then again, sometimes people are just @holes.
