I feel like your argument is valid, if this were the argument.
Your reasons for not making an alt aren’t the reasons we’re asking, but thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.

But they did let you have like 12 character slots for your server for alts.
Do you have alts IRL too? No? Then they don’t fit into this game either.
Case closed.
This has to be one of the most idiotic replies to a thread I’ve ever seen. Do you have an ice gauntlet IRL? Then it doesn’t fit into this game.
Based off your high IQ answers you’re clearly a dev for AGS please go back to fixing the game.
…wtf kind of reasoning is this? Of course I have alts IRL.
Would love to see zone and expedition level scaling like GW2 has done.
It’s a matter of in-game identity and singularity.
I would love to have an alt. People are saying here its easy to make money its not if u dont pvp. There is no way I can afford to repec as I do a lot of crafting and always need to buy refining materials as I run out. Then the cost of crafting it self. Paying for my house. Paying for storage for my house etc. I would love to try a different build but once I have my high level armor and weapons done all the quests I’ll leave the game. If I could make an alt I’d keep playing.
Alts would ultimately destroy this game.
The game will die without alts.
There is no replay value as it stands.
Alts give players variety.
Without an alt, once I’ve maxed my character to the point that I’m satisfied, I will stop playing until New World has enough new content for me to come back for.
Grinding the same dailies (pvp matches, raids, dungeons, etc) over and over is not my idea of “fun”.
Repetition gets old pretty fast.
What gave WoW, SWTOR, GW2, LOTRO, etc, replay value was leveling a new character. Being able to jump into a PvP match/Raid/Dungeon as heals, ranged/melee DPS, or a tank is fun! Variety is the spice of life. The Game Producers appear to have missed that life lesson.
New World punishes me if I want variety.
The gold needed to constantly re-spec is just too much.
I don’t want to, or enjoy, having to do repetitive things each day to make enough gold to re-spec at will.
To all of the “just do x Outpost Rushes” or “grind mats for a couple hours to sell” types, knock yourself out. I am 100% “ok” with you enjoying that. I do not.
For me, having to grind to play a game is not my idea of fun. Nor is it to the dozen or so people that I game with, most of whom have already given up on New World. I am one of two hold outs. (for now)
In New World, as with all MMORPG games, I would want 5 character slots. (or more)
There is no good argument AGAINST New World providing this as an option.
I read this whole thread.
All 152 posts.
Not a single, logical, well thought out reason New World should not provide additional character slots. There IS a whole bunch of odd, short sighted, boring, economically ruinous for New World, and flat out insane drivel that I just plowed my way though this fine Turkey Day morning.
As it stands, I would be surprised if I am playing this game come X-Mas.
Purchasable character slots in the cash shop have already been data mined.
Just do it already.
Just no. People keep saying since forever that the game will die because of this or that and nothing happened yet.
And having no alts is certainly at the bottom of that list.
If anything it makes people like myself not quit because it adding them would only lead to more exploit mechanics and unfair advantages.
Name one GENUINE advantage that having an alt will give another player that you, who can also have an alt, will not have.
Just one single valid point.
Think it through before you reply.
Every argument against alts in this thread so far has been unfounded, misleading, or just plain factually incorrect.
Let me stop you right there. So your alt system would force everyone else not to be at an unfair disadvantage? Doesn’t sound right.
You can already have alts. Just not on the same world set, which prevents exploits too.
Seriously?
If we could make alts, more of my friends would be playing, because I could make a low lv to play with them.
Right now they won’t even start because they know they will be alone and this is an MMO, not a solo game. At a minimum there should be group scaling so you can play with friends.
What will you do with your alt, that you can’t do with your main char?
Have a low lv char to play with latecoming friends and enjoy levelling together?
alts can be fun… to make some gold from quests… then delete them and do quest again to make some more golds for main character to repair their equipment lol
Give us alts please. Roleplaying, playing with friends, playing with dedicated roles without having to spend lots of respeccing gold and needing storage for all the stuff.
I would even shop buy alt slots with the restriction to never be able to play any kind of pvp play, just to get rid of this stupid limitation. (don’t need pvp anyway)
Alts are overdue as are shareable quests.
So about that one, single, solitary point that I asked for…
What is supposed to happen next after a person fails to “put up”?
Someone remind me.
I have not had my coffee yet.
