I have said it before and will say it again (i know all regions can not support this but at least do it in the more popular regions)
Create s new server and when naming them just add (PvP Encouraged) at the end of the name.
No special coding necessary but at least it gives PvP players an easy recognized server to go to. Not a fix all solution but very easy to do and a step in the right direction.
You could also add one with PvE or RP on the popular regions if so inclined.
As a PvE player I would oppose you guys jumping back and forth between the two, either go on and stick to PvP server, or stay over on PvX.
Oh, weâre sorry you are bored and cannot gang up on people and grief them so they literally leave the game. There is OPR (as crappy as it is), 3v3s and Wars. Go on do them, it wonât be enough, but may scratch that savage itch.
And PvP servers would die, and die soon to say the least. Iâm not even going into the rabbit hole explaining millions of reasons WHY.
What youâre asking for LITERALLY requires extra coding.
Itâs possible that the text area for names and titles doesnât have enough space for the extra title you want added to their name.
Quite probably, their initializations are optimized for how the names and UI are currently set up, and memory allocation just to name ONE thing would need to be modified. While it sounds like something minute, and it is, memory is carefully-calculated in game development and numerous unit tests would need to be developed to ensure that it causes no disruptions.
It is clear you have absolutely no programming experience, let alone any experience working on large scale able projects, or on projects with many moving parts.
Doing this would take weeks to implement, requiring extensive testing. Just to add an addendum to players names and a separate server with this feature. Resources and time taken away from other way more pressing matters.
PVP servers sound great in principle (I pvp 90%+ of the time in NW), but in practice, the economies would be an absolute mess. I hate to say it, but we honestly need PVE farmers for stabilization and growth of the economy, specifically for the BIS progression process. If you were in a top 3 BIS guild on the pvp server, it wouldnât make a difference, since the guild would have dedicated crafters to gear everyone out. Outside of that top 1% though, you would be left with a very empty marketplace.
I suppose some PVP focused people could shift gears and capitalize on the PVE side of things, but I doubt that will happen en masse. We need LOTS of other options for obtaining BIS gear before a PVP server (and its economy) would be successful. NW isnât quite there yet, but maybe in another 6-12 months once gear progression (and avenues to access that gear) smooths out, NW would be ready for it.
Edit to add- I 100% support PVP servers in NW, I am just worried that without modifying game systems beforehand, they would fail miserably (or at minimum, be an awful experience for the playerbase, as is).
Okay⌠Yes technically when you enter something on the game end to be displayed on the client end that is coding but I think it was reasonable to understand that I was not using the term coding to such a finite definition.
The system to display the general concept is already in place as AGS has taken servers away and then added new servers and then taken servers away. With the Fresh Start servers it has an icon after them so they could use another style of icon.
Going with the Fresh Start servers once again when you hover over the server name a pop-up window appears explain it. Once again the system is in place and the text would just need to be change and, once again, yes this technically is coding.
I do not think it would take weeks or any really significant amount valuable resource, money, etc. to do the above listed changes to a system that already exist.
So it may be clear (as you worded it) that I do not the programming experience, working of large scale project with many moving parts but it also may be clear, to put it bluntly, I do not process your level of âunique opinion expressionâ.
I did see itâŚin the first 6~ish weeks of launch. Was both gross and comedic to watch. What was more funny is when a low level got a hold of a lifesteal hatchet and beat the snot out of high level peeps b/c how things scaled back then. Kinda miss those simple times tbh, vs the farking mess we have now those times dont seem so bad in retrospect.
Donât think Iâve posted this here, if I have them feel free to ignore it but I feel like they could consider this on the player level instead of the server level. Not nearly as impactful but could be a compromise.
Iâve always thought that they could consider an irondweller mode (essentially similar to ironman modes in other games) which restricted player trading and use of the trading post. This gives players a reason to play on a new character in a classless system. Play under extra restrictions can be really fun for some.
How this relates to the original post is to consider a PVP account optio. It essentially auto flags at all times and the player gets recognized as a serious PVP player.
Itâs subtle but the same reason ironman modes are so popular and enjoyable. Often people mention that you can simply play with the restrictions without an official game mode. This misses the beat unfortunately. Why have any cosmetics? Or titles? Itâs the recognition. Also these modes easier certify you donât RWT.
Just my thoughts. They gave officially mentioned that they are not considering PVP servers, so this might be a way to do something similar I suppose.
Every zone divided into different areas in the New World map. Town and its surrounding areas should be safe zone and when you go further away town to mid and far locations then you will be flagged for pvp and the monsters will be stronger and thy will give better rewards, loots and more treasures to find etc events. Because you danger yourself to explore the dark corners of this land. The logic should be like that really. And it is not so hard to do in coding perspective⌠If we players can think such cool acceptable and applicable ideas and features then the AGS developers should do tooâŚ
Instead of making the monstersâ levels stable - the monstersâ levels should be adjusted according to the playersâ levels (so rewards will be better for high level players too). With this, even the empty low level zones will be meaningful for high level players to go fight and farm for rewards. However, it does not mean that the high level zones will be accessible by the leveling low levels too that the low level players need to complete the story and side main quests at every zone first.
