Give us the stats on our shields now

@Kay @Shadow_Fox @Wyvernn PLEASE talk to the dev team and have them give tanks our shield stats while using 2nd weapon. EVERY other class gets the full benefit of 500 attribute when using tier 5 food EXCEPT tanks. Being able to do 300/200 is crucial for these mutations and this problem has gone unfixed long enough!
REMOVE ability to equip shield when not using sword so as to not make them stat sticks for other users, only allow it to be equipped when a sword is slotted.
EDIT: Disregard, dont touch. ignore this and please do not mess with it at all right now! Perfectly ok with it only giving me 302/177 while using hammer and 304/204 while in s/s mode.

I do not exactly agree. I think it’s safe to say that the winter event sword and shield are fine, and all the swords and shield in game should be treated the same way with full stats on each.

Winter sword and shield… gs 525, and still you lose all stats on shield when using other weapon, I dont think you read and/or understand this?

If it was only active with your sword out, it would work, but then when you swap to your off-hand, you wont get shield perks/stats… it’s a sticky spot, cause we don’t want to see people in VG/IG with a shield on their back giving them a 3rd item to gain from.

I can see having a shield on your back giving your attributes and perks being way too OP for non S/S users.

But yeah, it’s a tough one.

cause think about it… anything that seems OP right now, is without the shields attributes and perks adding to it… so if shields were to give you full benefit and you’re not even a S/S user, I can see VG/IG users being even more powerful.

You get full stats from the sword when using the other weapons then gain some nice stats when switching to the s&b. What part of giving all weapons the same treatment do you not understand? It would be a nice quality of life improvement for sword and board which is under used as is, and addresses the missing stats when using off hand.

correct, they need to remove entirely the ability to equip a shield without having a sword on

I can see that being a good workaround. if you don’t have a sword on you can’t have a shield equip? seems legit honestly. Then they can actually give us the shields bonuses when you swap to your off-hand and keep the S/S attributes split to even out attribute distribution- so S/S wont be getting an extra stack of attributes to play with.

So people that do not care about weight can’t use a shield as costuming. Sure, seems like a real well thought out idea that will not aggravate anyone.

Yeah no, one of the the changes we’ve been asking for in the main thread(s) on this subject works like this:

IF Slot 1 or 2 = Sword
THEN add shield attributes (regardless of which weapon is in your hand)
ELSE Don’t add shield attributes

Slot 1 or 2 would have to be a sword, so just having a shield slotted would mean nothing without it.

isn’t that what I was agreeing too? yeah no? They would have to keep the attributes split then cause S/S users would have 3 full stats to gain from. shield’s perks/attributes, Swords, and their off hand.

Otherwise we’ll see IG/VG/Shield users dominate even more-so than they already do/can. (IF they aren’t required a sword in hand)…

Maybe? The way I read what you wrote it looks like you’re advocating for exactly what we have now - shield stats only applying when a sword is in-hand.

I want to gain my shields bonuses if I have a sword on/sheathed, even if my Hammer is out, but the attributes would have to remain split in order to mitigate attribute distribution. otherwise you’ll see IG/VG using a shield for a 3rd item to gain attributes if you don’t need a sword.

it needs a careful adjustment or it’s going to create trouble if you’re not required to wear a sword to gain benefits from shield, even if you’re wanting to weapon swap.

So like you stated, if you have a sword, then boom… gtg? yeah no?

Yeah, shields need to give attributes if a sword is one of your two weapons, period. I’d like to just run my 300/200 build and go sword+hammer or sword+great axe in dungeons and just use the sword when a taunt is needed, but I can’t as effectively use my hammer or great axe in said scenarios because I’ll lose either my 300str or 200con, both being quite big losses if I’m attempting to pseudo tank an encounter, be it elites or a dungeon. It’s really stupid this hasn’t been patched up by now. You’d see a few more DPS players willing to have a sword as their 2nd weapon if they could still mostly play as their DPS weapon.

Dozens of issues were opened, it has been 4 months. They can’t manage to fix shit, man.

my thing is, why is shield only for the sword? why cant I use shield and… anything else. Shield and spear, shield hatchet… It should have been a separate thing… Its own weapon with its own skill tree. That way it could be a sub weapon that you can block with on your main weapon but when u want to use shield skills you switch to it like you would any other weapon.

yeah, I’m not 100% sure… I guess because shield is classified as a weapon, but doesn’t deal even half decent damage. it’s really good utility, but that’s about it.(aside from blocking)((blocking is great with shields))

but yeah I get it. anything 1 handed should be able to utilize a shield, but then it’s only half a skill tree’s worth of abilities, in which case would make most combinations with the shield too OP aside from the standard sword.

Could you imagine defiant stance mixed in with anything regarded as OP already? oooofff

Defiant stance is insane… if you use it while above 50% life you get a total 50% damage mitigation, all while utilizing the VG to root, weapon swap to IG- still have the shield out for 50% damage negation, and ice spike XD then once defiant stance wears off it’s a heal for 15% of your max life lol

I can see things being really broken if they did it incorrect, and there are a shit ton of variables to take into consideration before making shield usable with other 1 handed weapons.

Oh yea it would need a complete rework but yea haha.
