Giving up on musket after 2000 hours on it

Ir does not matter all im saying is I switched to mage and is crazy how easy to play and get kills I tried also musket but since I don’t like to be camping from 500 meters I got bored, played bow with rapier same thing easy all I’m saying is people are dumb for saying one class is harder than other for me they all the same…

One thing musket needs in my opinion is to be able to reload while moving

Musket was not OP; but the main reason of the nerfs happened because of the cheats / hacks users who played musket like shooting other players with head shot without any miss or shooting players behind of the rocks and thy were saying “we see the burning mark on you” but the reality was different - thy were doing it with burn or without burn mark that you can see their bullet projectile that pass through the huge rocks or any objects to hit you from head… But if you play legally, it is quite hard to hit from head all the time no matter what distance you shot your opponent that your opponents are mobile, using health potions etc - so thy are hard to kill unless they are less geared or being a glass cannon…

Anyway, AGS just NERFED NERFED NERFED MUSKET and legal musket players are suffered now. And all of these toxic cheaters whom are never banned (even with real proofs) by AGS, thy just changed their class to mage or bow or melee…

BOW USERS are hitting like a TRUCK that it doesn’t matter where thy hit you from that you lose your 3k-4k-5k-6k HP with crit or not instantly… And their arrow aim and accuracy and the reload speed of arrow are too good now and while thy aim the get “Fortification BUFF” too so thy get so much less damage…

Musket is only good at killing low levels, low gear score, and players whom are playing as GLASS CANNON Light Armor users only.

I am a glass cannon light armor musket that only my weapon is 625 gear score but I have 300 Dex 150 Int. and I use this “Weapon Honing Stone” for an extra %7 more damage and with stat food too. Even with all of these, my damage on high gear score BOW users with CONS stat (whom are in targeting stat) is really bad - even I hit them from head… It is same for other high gear score light armor with CONS, thy get really less damage. However, thy hit me or anyone like a truck with lots of damage with one single damage and their HP are not going down at all too. Just look at their 3vs3 PvP Arena or OPR or any Open World PVP…

Musket has any of these features? NO… Please go to Great Cleave or Fortress Claim for PvP XP and PvP salts, there is a huge server lag that I see the players with delay and my in game ping ms latency becomes over +110 ms, so my bullets cannot hit at all.

While BOW users - even thy miss their shots - thy can still hit you… Thy are too mobile and for doing dodge, thy are getting buff to give more damage. Just look at the BOW TREE, all of the passives and active skills are all based on to give MORE AND MORE DAMAGE to their opponents while MUSKET is the opposite… Musket range is not OP as players are saying really… 100 meters headshots - how many muskets can do it at mass pvp where the server lags and latency ping ms becomes +100ms and FPS still drops a lot at low visual settings and dozens of players are coming with healers behind them and thy even use health potions and their accessories give constant heals with the passive to them…

BOW + SPEAR or Spear + Rapier or Mage with Fire Staff + Ice Gauntlet or Void Gauntlet or any Melee weapons - thy kill you in seconds…

What about musket??? Nothing. Trap build is useless, sticky bomb is useless, and Sharpshoot skill become useless that you are like a sitting duck and wait players to shot you… Power Shot how many musket use that skill? and then stopping power shot it is basically useless because your opponent can became stable after a very short time…Musket Skills & Abilities

All of these musket skills are nerfed at every new patch and AGS still nerfs them…

I think this is probably the big thing if AGS doesn’t want to increase the musket damage directly. The reload system is really clunky, and if someone is pressuring you your damage per second is so low that food alone is often enough to out heal your damage. Also, if you didn’t have to reload to use “shooter’s stance” or “stoping power” it would make a noticeable difference.

Do not compare musket to mage, or bow as the intent and design are completely different. Musket has just as much power as bow/mage but from further distance. Problem is everyone want’s to play same build and not be creative. Mmo community always needs someone to figure out a viable spec.

I have seen musket sns, kill players with out taking damage. Leapstrike-shield bash- trap- grenade- powder burn head shot. Target dead. Most ppl played musket to kill players in 2 shots. Now thats mot possible and ppl say musket is weak. Not true, i see so many musket players trying 100-0 someone. Bad move. Musket should be deleting anyone with half health with head shots.

Anyway i could go on about musket i just see many players trying to play musket in a way that doesnt suite the build they have(cookie cutter). I dont believe it needs a buff. But if it did i would make its powder burn Aoe splash damage to further incentivize sticky grenade game play for maybe a close up build. Allowing every enemy hit by grenade lower the cd by 1 sec max(5) enemies.

You honestly think that the main reason a cheat is working on the musket is because its hitscan? Have you ever played any other games? Battlefield? Warzone? Cod? All of those has aimbotter who just sit on the top of a tall building and landing 1km+ headshot and those game have a bit more serious bullet mechanics.
For an aimbot it doesnt matter at all if its hitscan or not, people hacked with the bow too but switchet to the musket after it got nerfed, and now they will switch back to the bow again.

I going to be playing valhiem till musket is brought in line with other weps if this takes months i might just try again when the new area is here idk guess i burnt out and frustrated,

i’ve been told you and everyone else for a months that musket damage in general are friggin low. The only way to increase musket damage is by using powder burn, or a combination of powder burn and sharpshooter stance on the exact same target. Sticky bomb after buff can also be an option…for PvE content, since the damage are comparable to 2-3 2H axe normal attack to your face, since your 50 CON will become easy target for everyone else if you try to spam sticky bomb on any PvP content.

musket rework when?? why do we musket user need to wait at least every 9 second just deal decent ammount of damage when other weapon has an option for swing to win?? why trapper tree in general sucks?

Musket kill players with 2 shots? then why I cannot do it or majority of muskets cannot do it?

If your opponent is a glass cannon with no CONS and resilient - you still cannot kill with 2 shots - even you hit from their head two times without missing in 2 seconds period while your targets are mobile and kiting and using health potions and getting passive heals from their accessories…

Do you know what happens when musket makes the first hit to their opponent even with burning effect? Players use a heal potion instantly and thy recover their HP with their accessory passive, and even the debuff on them with the accessory passive for consuming a potion to remove debuff…

Musket hit from far away right? After 100 meters you cannot see your targets visually anymore and if you still can hit means you are cheating. And do you really think that shooting players from 0-100 meters is easy for the opponents’ movements are so unpredictable and once you hit them for once - thy start to move with kiting and run away and hide behind obstacles or rush to you to kill you; because musket users don’t have any CC skills with their main and secondary weapons to CC an opponent and give the most damage at the same time, or run away to keep their distance constantly…

Musket + Spear build - you will never get the most benefit of spear to give most damage because DEX is secondary attribute of Spear weapon. And if you are glass cannon too, then your one mistake a closed combat or your opponent even CC you on time at close combat you will get tons of damage.

Musket + Rapier , you stop one attack for one time and maybe run away for one time to keep your distance from melee fights, but that’s it, MELEE AND MAGE BUILDS will come and hunt you down and you cannot run away and majority of players are fully 625 gear score with best items - thanks to the GOLD SELLERS - GOLD BUYERS - EXPLOITS - ITEM+GOLD DUPLICATIONS, BOT + ALT ACCOUNT ABUSERS etc. And AGS doesn’t ban any illegal players which old players get everything easy and who suffered? Legal normal players. These are the main reasons why New World server populations are dropping non-stop… And AGS doesn’t do anything to solve any of these problems and every patch things become worse…

Just yesterday, I tried to craft ********* Legendary items to get Resilient + Refresh + Musket related perks and I lost 200k gold again and all two remaining perks were useless… So who is making these best BIS items in the game? Again the major companies who hold major towns without any effort that thy get free 1 million, 2 million , 3 million weekly incomes and already these companies are the main GOLD SELLER PROVIDERS… Look at the TRADE POST PRICES… WHO THE HELL CAN AFFORD THESE NON SENSE PRICES? ONLY GOLD SELLERS AND GOLD BUYERS AND THESE MAJOR COMPANIES… WHO SUFFERS AGAIN? LEGAL NORMAL PLAYERS…

If MUSKET is so good why is it the most less used weapon in the game for pvp and pve related contents that AGS said it themself at their DEV video??? AGS had promised to buff and fix musket problems but thanks to cried players - thy nerf it every month with every patch. It is mainly because of musket players who used the cheats - that are obvious which even with real proofs - AGS doesn’t ban them. If thy ban them then the remaining population will drop more. HOWEVER, AGS behavior ruined the game more and more that noone of the illegal players are punished at all…

BOW CHANGES HAPPENED AND THE NUMBER OF MUSKETS and the musket cheaters became less but now BOW USERS are hitting like a truck with perfect aiming with almost no miss and thy hit you from your head from very far away and you lose your 3k-4k-5k-6k with ONE BOW NORMAL HIT…

Musket is not OP for another reason, it is because AGS doesn’t provide a good server with less latency and less FPS drops in their game. Great Cleave, are you not experience any server lag? are you not experience +100ms ping latency? while there are +40 , +100 , +150 players at the same area at all??? I start to see players with delays and my bullets are not finding its target at all… ANOTHER SUBJECT for Musket is that “ZERG vs ZERG” fights… How musket is going to kill anyone at all even shooting from far??? Most of the time I spend thousands of orichalcum bullets and hitting enemy players in these zerg battles but I don’t earn any ***** PVP SALT points and experience at all… But BOW USERS, MELEE USERS, HEALERS, MAGE USERS thy make lots of points just with using AOE DOTS and Debuffs…

AGS’ NEW WORLD doesn’t offer anything special to MUSKET to shine in any pvp and pve related contents… Everyone is in Great Cleave and whoever’s faction zerg more wins and thy can farm… OPR and 3vs3 PVP Arena are not POP UP fast anymore… 3vs3 area pvp is a total joke - only premade groups with certain weapon classes - but not muskets at all in general…

This game is not about if you are talented in pvp or not, IT IS ALL ABOUT WHO HAS BETTER GEAR, so this game is about %70 gear and %30 your gameplay… NEW WORLD is the NEW ARCHEAGE that you can one shot players; BUT AGAIN IT IS NOT THE CASE FOR MUSKET FOR PVP OR PVE AT ALL…

Im a musket main and I think it is just fine. Im doing VERY well in all game modes and im almost unbeatable in open world.

That said:

  1. it depends alot on your enemies gear and armor type… Light armor is a free kill. Back in heavy meta it was horrible now I eat light bow users for breakfast. Although it hurts that they can play 200con and still hit hard. Musket scales with skill and it’s skill ceiling is very high. But if you can chain hit headshots reliably it’s dps is insane. Desync fucks you up in wars though.

  2. Musket pvp weapon perks are bad. There is no good musket available easily. Muskets are most reliant in dmg. You need to kill enemies in one burst cycle before their pot CD is up again. Every last dps percentage counts. If you dont have a musket with keenly emp, vicious and/or vorpal/enchanted/attunement you will perform way worse.

This last 10% dps decide if you pop or never get a kill because they survive and pot again.

An easy fix would be to make the new pvp penetrating headshot at least as good as vorpal. Atm is way worse.

I would appreciate if the trapper tree would get more love. So we can play a more low range musket Version. In my experience sniper is the only viable competitive build Version even in 3v3 with sticky ofc.

You need Bis and extraordinay aim. If you got it you go like: I choose you to die and they cant do anything against it.

The main point of using musket is whether your Empowered Powder Burn hit the right target or not that is all.

But muskets CAN move while reloading? Do people not know even the most basic fundamentals of the weapon or what? They ask for nerfs but they don’t even know how it works!?

You can shoot and reload WHILE MOVING

What you CANNOT DO = Overload special shots while moving because it does a rooted animation

I thought he meant run full speed and reload. Not move at crawl pace to reload. He also might of meant being able to overload shots on the run.

In any case, being able to move at 100% speed while reloading isn’t going to allow the Musket to compete mid-range because a bow shoots twice the arrows during a Musket’s reload,

a firestaff doesn’t have reload and has abilities usable ON DEMAND while Musket player is reloading.

The very fundamental of reloading (being unable to attack after attacking for 2 seconds) is flawed.

The solution I would propose is this:

The main problem that everyone being shot by a Musket: Getting hit from 100+m away
Solution to main problem: Nerf max range from 125m down to 70m
Adjustments to compensate for the Musket’s reduced range:

  • Improved reload speed by 50% (instead of taking 2 seconds to reload, it should only take 1 second to reload)
  • Increase the secondary stat scaling (int) from 65% to 80%
    (the increase with scaling that comes from this should allow Muskets to finally be built for 150+con setups (200 dex, 150 int, 150 con \ 300 dex, 100 int, 100 con \ 250 dex, 150 int, 100 con) It would be stupid to try and run glasscannon with the max range reduced because every other ranged weapon would now be able to properly contest against the musket.

Now if AGS decides to push through this, not a single soul can complain about the Musket being able to shoot them from the other side of the map.

Musket need rework. Not stupid changes

The game just fucks you because there is no way to see what armor type your enemy is wearing or how many max hp they.

Heavy tanks with Jesus robes and full plated naked healers in a pvp game. GJ AGS

Usually you just take test shots until you found the squishy with no resi/con/light armor and kill them a couple of dozen times.

Pls dont argue with waiting for them to dodge. As if anybody got time for that.

Imo K.Emp is pretty bad on the musket, for a while Im trying to figure out what is the best bought multiple muskets, keen/vicious/kemp, vorp/ench/jagged, Ench/attun/keen, infamy, and I still think in raw damage I think the infamy is the most relyable, maybe the attunement is stronger in the long run but its basically impossible to get one with 3 perk. the vorpal/ench combo is the lowest damage as headshotting is far from realyable way to play.
Laso, maybe Im just playing on tryhard servers but on Barri and Dry tree its nearly impossible to find badly geared players, even light taking 4-5 or even more hits to die usually in nearly bis 625 gear.

I say just get rid of the musket. I hate that weapon. Bows should be the ranged weapon. Tired of musket guys sitting on top of mountains and there’s nothing you can really do about it.
