I’m about to give up on New World and I really enjoy playing.
The problem is that I work a lot and I have few hours to play, sometimes 01 or 02 a day. weekends is better. The game itself I don’t have any problems with, I like PVE, I like PVP, Craft, etc.
THE PROBLEM is the question of storage. I spend A LOT of my time organizing this. Spaces are small, chests IDEM. We can only have 03 houses. THAT ANNOYS ME. I don’t want to go into the game to go from city to city spending time just to pick up materials and take them to another one because there is no tailoring 04 or spend too much azoth going to another one that I was forced to leave the materials I need at the time.
Yes I completely agree on storage and storage management. In a game where you have to do every skill more or less to 200 just to get by, why make storage dreadfully small? Why limit trade slots in a player driven economy… amazon itself doesn’t sell 100 items… it sells millions of them. Amazon is based off of the Warehouse design a warehouse is a huge building for containing thousands of items…
Yet in Amazons own game… you get a storage shed into which almost nothing can be stored. And you get very minor expansions to it. Even with the purchase of the biggest most expensive house and 4 of the best chests… storage is still pityful.
But that all said… don’t give up. Buy 3 cheap houses spread over the map, I like to have one in Brightwood, Restless shores and Cutless. This gives you short run access to nearby storages in other towns. Essentially giving you access to more than 1 storage shed.
i dont really understand , other games have even more limited storage .
you are about to give up on new world coz the storage isnt as big as you would like it to be ?
do you hear yourself?
Storage is fine. it is the urgent need you’re feeding when you pick every shiny thing you see.
Yes, arcana needs wood/ore/fiber/plants
Yes, weapons/armor needs leather/ore/wood/fiber
Yes, they all interconnect to each other. But if you just focus on a few things at a time, you will get control of your storage. Sell off what you can, quit hording up the huge amounts of things because you are planning on getting to it one day.
Use or sell the stuff you got and you will be fine.
Yeah, I have dropped it, but not the stuff, the game (not a game for me anyway in the long run, was nice and had interesting systems but there is much lacking. But I wouldn’t want a game to cater just to me anyway). I will check again as in 3 days we get a merger and might promote new/old players and so if there isn’t too much of a questionable “economy” more of these time sinks will become fruitful.
I really hope you have more fun then. I have been lucky enough that I have not been on a low pop server. I think if I have I might be a LOT more frustrated.
Storage is fine (could use some tweaks, but the overall volume we get is fine, particularly given how much we can expand it by) but the issue is the game demands a huge amount of legacy items as you progress.
I can’t imagine how the game will work if it ever starts expanding upwards to tier 6, 7, 8 and so on…
Want a t10 axe crafted? Enjoy mining 50000000 iron ore, 20bn charcoal, star metal, orichalcum… Tier 6 ore, tier 7 ore, tier 8 ore, tier 9 ore and tier 10 ore for that.
A decent crafting session requires a large volume of materials. Even just 20 items can rapidly bulk up unless you refine everything in micro batches. I’m not entirely sure it’s a sustainable model.
Storage is fine if you don’t craft. Armour, Weaponsmithing doesn’t use much storage. Nor does engineering or furnishing.
However Cooking, Arcane and Jewelcrafting require horrendous amounts of space for materials.
And given you’re expected to pretty much level every skill up… if forces you to use specific locations for specific skills and those locations don’t always have the T5 benches you need. Then you need to transfer hundreds of items from town to town… no point doing it via transfer… those prices are extortionate… well, the whole game is really.
There’s a gem of a game hiding under all the mess of game balance and ideaology. Games are for us to decide how long we play… not for developers, their job is to entertain us.
Really haven’t had a problem with storage. I play daily, have one house. I usually sell materials when I get enough of them as I will just regrindmore of them.
So… Quitting because you are a Hoarder?
I would recommend getting the need to hold onto everything that might be useful under control.
It is much the same as people who think every high gear score item must be sold and linked multiple times in chat because they already blew all their money listing crap over and over.
