As a player who played that game since start; IMO that Golden Scarab should have dropped only when PvP is on. New World has a good story behind but also it is a PvP game too. There are some good PvP content in the game but it doesn’t seem enough.
IMO,Open World PvP is most funniest pvp content. We had PvP on elite runs most of the time but now most of the servers do elite runs with PvP off. What If that golden scarab drops when only PvP ON?! It’s understandable that some players don’t like doing pvp but Golden Scarab is the most reliateble item for PvP players to craft good gears by small risks. Just an example; crafting ‘‘resillient/freedom’’ is huge advantage. As an old player;when we crafted that perks together ‘‘res/freedom’’. it was sellable on TP but now any 590-599 purple items are not even sellable? So crafting is only for yourself and salvage it :))) (usually!)… To sell any item on TP makes it harder with that item.
Golden scarab made many of people at the end of gear too fast;now what? They got pretty decent PvP gear but now what!? They barely find PvP in game (wars/opr/arena/open world pvp). I still like that idea of crafting 2 perks but not like that. Too easy and brings the end game too fast for everyone and then we just sit in town
I would like to hear some views/opinions of people about that!
Umbral shards should only be rewarded in mutations. Not in chests, not through salvaging stuff, not through crafting and ESPECIALLY not as reward for afk arena OPR
How can that possibly affect the game in a positive way? Stop thinking about yourself only please. What does golden scarab acquisition has to do with anything when it comes to pvp? Just because you can’t sell your crap crafts on trading post … What you are suggestiong makes zero sense mate. Just go chest runs with pvp on and brawl with whoever you find , that’s pvp for you right there.
That comes to the same point of that actually! Most of the strong items (like shards/golden scarab) brings THE END Game soooo much fast! That’s what i mean here, It doesn’t have to be fully %100 drop rate on PvP but maybe %20 pve drop rate and %80 pvp drop rate make most of the people happy in game! Strong Items should’ve dropped in the right place or in the right time!
I’m not thinking about myself Instead of being offensive, you can share opinion in a kind way. I know it must kill some things that working right now but you just think for the present time. Not able to trade in the game is just no-sense because that game is alive with trades. for the future that game shoul have good trading post system for everyone! I don’t think im wrong here. New World must be fun for most of the people. Trying to improve your skills and gear is too important, the important one comes when you are done about everything. What would you do when you finish game? I’m not saying that that should be like what i say. That’s just an advice from me and advice can fix with better brains and developers who can see everything in game like @Ktinadi said, that umbral shards are also important for gears but drops everywhere right now? so it is hard to find mutations. I recommend you to talk for the future instead of present time and nice way I have ‘‘crap’’ BiS item on TP if you wonder xD
That’s because they all quit a few months in after their garbage PvP balancing, lag during wars, terrible faction quests and no world PvP. It’s easier for them to make PvE at this point since PvP requires constant balancing.
Them focusing more on PvE is WHY there aren’t more PvPers. You got it backwards.

To @myst01 , golden scarab? I got a ton in chest run with luck set without pvp on. It’s like 8 piece x 3% = 24% luck. Better than pvp on with only 10%. You can risk with luck set and pvp on but it is very bad for pvp.
Pvp on scarabs chest run is stupid. I dont even attack ppl that are flagged near acid pools. You know there is a big chance they are running acid resistane armor? Chance you get fair pvp there is close to 0.
Also no idea why you want to force pvp into ppl who just want pve. Want pvp, go play opr/arena/wars.
Oh my, the same since start of New World. PvP players feel that AGS is not sufficient catering for them and PvE is taking away the attention and available effort.
I can tell you, as PvE player I feel that AGS is catering more for PvP as for PvE. Most of the changes related to weapons, armor, combat are coming due to PvP. They are hitting however the PvE combat very hard. In addition menchanisms like a substantail boost of Luck when flagging PvP in Open-World. Arena got added. Soon OPR can happen over the border of worlds. With all this effort, we could have had an entire new Area, with quests, expedition, crafting … .
In the end I am quite convinced that AGS looks at both PvP and PvE.
It is however natural that people notice more the negative things they care for, and less the positive ones.
And for you on the positive side, are not leaderboards at the roadmap, with even more PvP exclusive rewards. In addition Cross-World OPR. For PvE I did not notice anything real substantial.
So to summarise:
-no strong point why should it be PVP only and excluded from PVE
-reaching end game set should be impossible, this game should be miserable gamble where legendary items are only a myth to lure players into grinding
Like really… everytime someone brings up that reaching a good gear by many people is bad is like… should be only the Chosen Ones that can have a full legendary set? Building a set will always have an end, no need to artifictialy push efforts
it would benefit scum meta-players that does not want to have a competitive, skill demanding combats… they just wants to kill anyone no matter who he is just to feed their ego
Thanks for your opinion! I agree most of them tho. The thing is that topic is not related to people who think PvP is content less than PvE content. Like you said there are some good PvP contents in game. so AGS is doing good job about it. but I also can tell you as, PvP player. We barely find that PvP! There is OPR,Arena or other stuffs but we are not able to do that. I respect people who they want to play at their way. No one can force that. You said you are PvE player. so you can prove me that you can do anything you want anytime. as PvP player me who can’t find things whenever i want to. and again thanks to you for you good talk <3

Again, PVP players have to engage in PVE content if they want the rewards from it, why shouldn’t you have to engage in PVP from time to time if you want the rewards from it?
You want true toxicity? Kill some PVE players in open world who are flagged for PVP and watch them scream at you because they want all the benefits with none of the risk
PVE players once again being the most toxic and abusive while claiming the opposite. They are true ‘cry-bullies’.
Honestly some of the (loud minority) PVE players on this forum are super toxic. All the condescending winky faces and gloating over PVP players when we want anything. Meanwhile they get new dungeons to play in like every other month. Truly acting like spoiled little rich kids who get everything and rub it in the poor kid’s faces at school.
OP’s idea will never happen bc AGS sold out the original vision for this game a long time ago to try to become an action combat WoW clone but even WoW has way more PVP content than New World.
Instead of forcing people to flag for golden scarabs. Have golden scarabs drop specifically unflagged & create Crystal scarabs that only drop specifically flagged. Both have the same effect except that golden scarabs would only have the pve perk pool & crystal scarabs would have the pvp perk pool.
PvP players are already forced to do a lot of pve to enjoy pvp, there is no reason to instill the same oppression to pve players as it does nothing but continue the same terrible problem in the same endless loop.
