Wrong. This is one of the few games of its kind that forces everyone into the PVE ruleset (optional flagging.) PVPers are then tasked with searching for people to kill if they want to PVP rather than just letting it happen naturally. If the server you chose is filled with carebears, too bad. You wait until the planets align and they’re ready to PVP once, die and never flag again. Virtually every other MMO has a choice in this matter. This game doesnt. Just nothing but disinformation in these posts
Good job PvP players acting like such immature children during testing that Amazon literally had to redesign the entire game to make PvP optional. Once again, you’re quoting a completely out of touch article that has been thoroughly debunked. PVPers did not remove PVP from this game. Amazon did because streamers wanted it that way, just like every other popular feature that has been removed/nerfed randomly (see stagger and PVP scaling.) BUT THE ARTICLE SAYS-- just stop.

they also gutted the mechanics in pvp so its mostly shallow no skill spamfests. most of the CC is irrelevant, stuns last long enough for one hit, the meta is just heavy armor face tanking while spamming.
the pvp overall is just bad right now and it needs some serious changes to be any good. stagger was the core mechanic, but if they dont want that they at least need better CC, add in flinch/initiative, something.

the proof is that anyone with a little knoledge of the gaming industry KNOW for a fact that if you develop a full loot pvp mmo, you will find griefing and toxic behaviour and you need to make changes around it.
There is ABSOLUTELY no way that someone funded a full loot pvp game and then in the alpha went ‘‘omg, I dindn’t expected some people to kill other just cause they can, no no no, wee need to change the focus of this game, we never saw this coming in a full loot pvp game’’.

Based on what we saw, we realized that we needed to make fundamental changes and not just incremental fixes, (which we tried several times during the Closed Alpha).
There has been speculation that we have moved away from PvP, this isn’t the case at all. PvP is important to us and we are committed to ensuring it plays a significant role in our game. To be specific, by PvP we mean, fair fights that are organized, skill based, and opted into by all participants. Not PKing (Player Killing), which is a predatory behavior that relies on exploiting another player’s lack of experience, progress, readiness, or willingness. So for those folks who desire that harsh PVP environment, New World may not be your favorite game, however, we do hope you enjoy the PVP we will offer.
It’s amazing that you can just release one article telling your players what they want and don’t want, causing your main target audience to completely abandon the game, and the brainlets left over will just eat it up.

20 years of PVP servers in MMOs. But THIS is the game PVPers just couldn’t figure out. It just couldn’t work. This game is different somehow. We couldn’t work on level scaling or city guards that other MMOs use to combat this exact problem. We just had to yank the entire core game design out.
Yeah okay. The developers choked. They made boomer decisions like boomers in upper management do to appeal to the streamers and their audiences at great expense to the game. They pulled out core game designs and replaced it with nothing.
