Great axe isnt a problem, the real problem is hammer!

Yeah imma go with a no on that one. GA/Warhammer has 4 stuns… most of them 2-3seconds plus aftershock on warhammer. If you think that is balanced you’re on something. Maybe you can win 1v1, but that is a hard maybe. Chaining CC is 100% broken. There is a reason that the team with more warhammers usually wins OPR since they just chain their CC and anyone not in heavy armor get decimated. Oh, I forgot I have infinite stamina and can just go invincible… give me a break.

No offense but if you run medium/light you have no business to be in the front line with all the GA and WH. I see a lot of players using medium/light armor with hatchet, rapier, spear or any other melee weapon that can do well 1v1 rushing heavy armor players in OPR. Why would you do that if you have a ranged weapon as well ?

Edit: if you’re going to tell me 5 heavy armor players using WH/GA are chasing you in medium/light using a rapier, etc, there’s no way they can catch you unless you deliberately smash your body into them

Stop nerfing things, buff others, if necessary. I dont happen to like ranged weapons but if they were THE best weapons to use, guess what, i’d learn to use them if I wanted to be the best. And certainly instead of insisting everything I don’t like get nerfed. I’m not a person who tells others to ‘get gud’ but if a GA or WH is the most successful weapon at present, maybe try using them? Light a candle instead of curse the darkness.

You’re right I will just never turn around and try to hit them. I will just run. Run until the end of time. Also there is never a point where they might, you know, perform a flank. I clearly deserve to die because they got too close and I didn’t just run away…

Greataxe is not OP, it’s broken. It’s basic attack provides you a free autolocking teleport.

It’s a matter of context, but GA clealry outperforms hammer imo.

Hammer is only a problem in wars and not specifically because of hammers but because of how combat is designed in NW without any CC immunity or diminishing returns system. So if you get within 20 meters of a flag in a war expect to lose control of your character for a good couple of minutes as you start getting hit by multiple casts of path of destiny and shockwave.

However in 1v1 or small-scale, hammer is highly telegraphed and easy to avoid. Axe is a far bigger worry in small-scale because of the insane target tracking on left click and how well it works with 300str grit. The CC is also less telegraphed CC (especially Reap) and finally the weapon packs more damage due to the passives.

That doesn’t make the weapon OP, it makes it simple.

And yet there was a thread yesterday claiming JUST this because of the snare. Along the lines of “The GA one is worse because xxx while the VG one is better because xxx!”
