Otherwise there is no point using any of the workstations there.

Then don’t use them. At launch the unclaimable areas had the only T3s on the servers - which made the journey to them at low levels worth the risk. Now? Handy for initial rounds of refines and temp storage. There areas are not meant to be home, they are waystations in the wilderness.
