Great idea to nerf bow and musket, without changing anything in weapons

We all know how annoying musket and bow are in OPR, so my idea is:

  • add invisible walls to prevent climbing large rocks camp places
  • add obstacles along the roads almost everywhere, to let players hide
  • add obstacles to hide behind in forests
  • make outposts walls higher to stop any projectiles from far away high ground places(musket/bow camp spots)
  • add along the roads shields to pick up, while holding it you will move 50% slower, Block all projectiles, but you cant attack, it breaks after 15 projectiles shot at you, or 2 melee attacks.
  • add azoth armor to outposts shop, azoth armor buff would be only for outposts lvl 2. Buff can be bought by 100azoth, it reduces dmg from enemy attacks, who are 60m far away from you by 25%, and by 50% from enemy 80m+ far away from you, azoth armor break after 10shots received from 60m+.

A developer in another thread said they are going to make balance changes to the musket and release the information soon.

Did he not mention the bow or ME? Sad.

Easiest way to Nerf Musket and Bow is to remove “unlimited ammo”… Lets see how many people keep playing when it cost like 1000 coin per OPR.

Maybe the balance changes will include bows. We will have to wait and see.

Curious to see what they do. Bow just needs flat nerfs to the damage curve (wouldn’t touch the mobility since thats the niche of its kit) fire rate and or hitbox.

Musket is weird, on one hand its fire rate is slow but the reload on dodge in combination with powershot/powderburn/shooter stance pretty much makes that a non-issue and not really able to doge on cadence (not to even mention people can hold shots) Musket damage isn’t really that crazy its the way they benefit so much from 150 int on top of not being able to effectively itemize against them due to the int split gems. I hope they are looking at these issues more broad because honestly the BB is just as egregious as the musket due to the 150 int, and it really limits build diversity too since so much power is in one perk point.

That’s not the way to balance weapons. What about open pvp?

The guys of AGS should really sit around the round table and have a serious discussion about muskets and bows.

They should stop just touching a little bit here and there.

if they dont remove the hitscan , then at least they should make musket ability fixed animation with fixed shot timing, and have the shot trace appear 0.25s (equal to or little bit less than average human response time) before dmg regist.

also the tactic reloading perk should be removed or have at least doubled CD.

eg: make musk ability work like evade shot and rapid shot,

so that ppl can have chance to dodge the shot by reacting to the trace or timing it well.

Bow and Musket should have limited range of shooting exactly the same like any other weapon. Why all the other range weapons are limited to around 100m range and only Bow and Musket can shot nearly cross over the map in OPR.

Most already spend that.

I wouldn’t have an issue with using my own ammo. I can just make it. Already sitting at like 40k arrows and carts on 2 characters.

direct nerf on weapon will be 4x nerf.
since people think weapon should be balanced at 15x stacks.
how are you going to do any dmg with nerfed weapon that has no value without 15x stack
and no way to get those stacks.

One way to balance may be that the weapons, when equipped, their weight is accounted for.
Shields are considered weapons, and when you equip them the weight goes up.
But all other weapons, when you equip them, the weight does not go up.
But, a bow weighs 25, automatically the archers would be middleweight even if they don’t have clothes.

bow is not the problem anymore … is musket it can 2 shot people with out any downside the bow have been nerfed ALOT and ME ring IS A JOKE I have 13k health and 2 shot 5% health

Bad ideas.
Musket has to be reworked. Hitscan alone is not whole problem. Issue is that in NW comabt does take place in 0-40m range in general - bruiser, mages, bows, healers. While most musket player do play weapon on 80+m range - so 2x as much as max distance for other range weapons like fs or bow, and x10 more than bruisers do fight. It cant work as dps with that range with that rate of fire and dmg.

The bow is in a good place now, the dmg is ok, and the fire rate is not so fast how some people say… i’he the feeling that the Musket have the same fire rate like a bow… i’m not said that the fire rate of the two weapons doing equals… i’m say that in the battlefield, where you need run, hit, dodge, and hit again… the musket and bow have the same fire rate i think

They said cross server was coming soon, and it’s coming in 6 months. If they don’t talk about it by end of next week. That means if there are any changes, they won’t be hitting live servers till end of February.

I have 35 thrust resistance and bows consistently hit me for 3-5k. I have 0 fire gems and firestaff hits me for 1.5-2.5k with the same attributes split. Bow has like 9 empower traits that give damage for free, plus the arrow .20 modifier. The damage is not okay. Why do you think the majority of ranged players play bow?

The bow has the highest damage in the game. It’s higher than the GS (expect for the final hit of crosscut).

It doesn’t make sense a range weapon with 200 con can hit that hard.
