I saw on the most recent combat balances and I see great axe and shirking fort increases and all these other weapons increases, but the great sword defiance stance has not been touched and you don’t see it run in wars at all because its not close to great axe or hammer tankyness. I would like to see some Great sword defiance buffs so it can compete and be an optional build against other bruiser builds because even with the thwarting strike changes, Great axe/Hammer is still signific better to play than other bruiser builds.
The reason why you don’t see defiant stance GS on point in wars is because of guard point. You’re just constantly going to get your stam broken in defiant stance as you can’t turn that off, and onslaught stance is bas on point for obvious reasons.
Basically, defiant stance GS is good in small scale and not large scale.

I’ll add that GA and WH provide better utility than the GS with aoe stuns, roots, and clump abilities

If you run sturdy on your GS then getting your stammed broken isn’t as easy, it takes 2 heavy attacks from war hammer to break stammed, and if you have hearty as well then you can survive 3 heavy attacks. If you don’t run arrow deflection, you can run faultless defender and have sturdy on your GS and hearty then you don’t get your guard point broken. GS defiance is good for small scale, but I think there’s potential in large scale if there is maybe a bit of more tankiness like maybe changing “Wary posture” to increase armor 25% for 5 seconds instead of just the first hit within 5 seconds. That would be huge, or remove increase stamina damage by 10% on Arrow deflection, or reworked Cleaning chain because reading it makes it feels like it only applies to crosscut.
Yes GA/WH does provide better utility, but GS does provide weaken, applies 5% rend stakcing 3 times so up to 15% rend everytime guard point, as well as stagger and calamity counter is decent but compared to GA/WH it definitely cant compete currently. Thats why I hope the devs decide to make a rework or buff any of the defiance passives for GS defiance stance.
