Great Sword NOT scaling off STR/FOC is a HUGE miss

The real tragedy is it’s not a STR/CON weapon

/s

Those new gems look like they’re gonna do the trick, go light 150 dex = free hearty + gs dmg, 150 con, 200 foc get a ring w blessed nature dmg invig punishment

Thematically it makes sense for the weapon to be Strength, and Str/Dex opens up a lot of build diversity, as does the new gems and runes.

But wow, the dev bias is real when you look at the list of weapons by attribute. I sort of doubt daggers will be Int or Focus either, it wouldn’t make sense. But where is the Lightning Staff (air) Necromancy Orb (soul) or Stone Gauntlet? Or another Focus-primary support weapon?

What do you mean by that? There are only 4 weapons that scale primarily off of str. 5 if you include the great sword.

4 that scale primarily off of Dex

And 3 that scale primarily off of Int.

If you decide to include secondary scaling, then there are 6 that can scale from str, 6 that can scale from int, and 5 for Dex

It’s pretty even, excluding focus weapons.

idk wtf they decided to add another 2h weapon to game. wtf don’t they add DUAL WIELD? you know, a mechanic that exists in every fantasy MMO since everquest?

6 strength, 5 dex and 3 Int doesn’t seem pretty even to me. Aside from Ice/Blunder builds and using the rapier to get out of jail free, the Int weapons really don’t have much synergy skills-wise, IMO.

Now if they want to mix things up, having everything with two stats scale evenly would certainly open up new worlds of builds.

Why are you counting all weapons that scale with str and/or dex, primarily or secondarily, and only counting primarily int scaled weapons? I think that someone else has a bias here lol

Musket, blunderbuss, and rapier also count. Oh look…6.

Am I hallucinating? (It’s possible; the memory ain’t what it used to be.)

Unless you want to leave our Greatsword because it’s 50/50 not primary/secondary I come up with:

Strength:
Greatsword
Sword and Shield
Warhammer
Great Axe
Hatchet
Blunderbuss

Dex:
Greatsword
Bow
Musket
Spear
Rapier

You know what, I completely forgot SNS lol!

After looking at the Greatsword tree, I am honestly happy to wait for a different weapon for Paladins.

I’m even happy if Paladins remain SnS/LS, tbh. It’s quite traditional, but Light Paladins bend the holy trinity just by their very existence. We don’t need a weapon specifically designed for us, because that would alienate other people from using it.

Also since the new weapon scales equally from str and dex, you could still run it. It’s just not tailored specifically to one build and that’s nice.

I would like to see something like a Boon applied to a player depending on what two weapons they pair together. Say you pair a lifestaff and a sword, you might receive a “+20% outgoing heals” boon. @Developer @Shadow_Fox

i guess my own personal belief is i don’t think any weapon should scale off evenly different ways i could see maybe str main dex secondary with modifier but who am i to judge before actually seeing it first person it sounds great on paper and who knows maybe this gets some changes before even going live

Yes.

Strength:

  1. Greatsword
  2. Sword and Shield
  3. Warhammer
  4. Great Axe
  5. Hatchet
  6. Blunderbuss
  7. Spear

Dex:

  1. Greatsword
  2. Bow
  3. Musket
  4. Spear
  5. Rapier
  6. Hatchet
  7. SnS

Int:

  1. Firestaff
  2. Icegaunlet
  3. Voidgaunlet
  4. Rapier
  5. Musket
  6. Blunderbass

Looks even…

Yikes. Playing a healer in this game is the most boring experience compared to any MMO currently in rotation that I know of.
They heal - period. Very unexciting design.
Little to no cc, no disruption, no dmg (unless you go vg with 150 int), no debuffs - just plain, cheeks & boring.
In some MMOs they at least get to cc or debuff people but this community & developers just can’t graps that. It escapes my understanding as to why that is.

Anything can be balanced with a right approach to it. No one even asked for a 100% scaling to begin with. In fact a lot of people wanted is a secondary and considering the fact that GS abilites cost HP it could be interesting.

Again: anything can be balanced with a right approach to it. Just assuming something won’t work based on nothing more than “trust me bro” and/or an exaggarated prediction really isn’t the right approach to changes.

Maybe people should stop flying planes because they might crash?

Not if you use it without INT. In any case what do you think is so OP about it now?

PS. If not str/focus here then lets consider this:

Your sentiment about healing is simply your own opinion. I know plenty of people that enjoy it the way it is now. That’s not to say your opinion or anyone else’s is invalid. I do hope they add a more interesting way to be a healer in the near future because I also don’t feel very drawn to it.

I think if a weapon scaled with a damage stat and focus… the damage of the weapon would have to be solely from the damage stat and focus would have to solely effect the healing effectiveness. In my head that seems to be the best way to balance that. I feel funny saying that though because… while I don’t think that’s how it works now… I also don’t know for sure

What I feel is OP about the VG is basically what I was talking about earlier. The amount of damage it can do while simultaneously (self)healing as effectively as it does is crazy. I don’t use VG so I can’t speak much to it and I’ve heard people say that it sucks and they can’t keep up with it. But then I’ve seen people and been at the receiving end of those who literally feel like they can’t be killed. They absorb all damage, heal any that got through, long root, strip you of buffs, and melt you down. You know… or something lol. It happens so fast🤔

The boredom I speak of does not just come from the weapon itself but lack of variety.
Focus tree has very little options.

If you know people who enjoy playing a healer role the way it is now thats cool I guess. Good for them but I require more variety to keep myself entertained.

It doesnt necessarily have to be healing effectivness. Debuffs, cc duration, empowers, etc and secondary scaling on one weapon with LF on your back doesnt make you invincible. Majority of builds have 2 weapons with primary scalings that still can hit more than a healer can chew. Even in a 1v1 if you know whats what.

If you’re not playing VG with at least 150 int its damage is mediocre at best and that affects the healing capabilities of your lifestaff as well.

Void blade for one (which a lot of people seem to not know about) has very little stam damage. Sometimes you can block the guy until your cooldowns reset. The only things that I see about VG being good (not necessarily OP) are the armor perks for Oblivion and Orb of Decay which damage is also mediocre. Its good tho that they have those perks so at least we have some debuffs in the game but VG in a strickly focus setup is not OP.

Well again man, opinions. And I’m not invalidating yours. I echo your boredom.

If focus effected potency or duration of buffs applied that would seem inline with it being a supportive stat. Or maybe it was added on the focus stat line as a threshold perk.

Either way the fact that healers in this game can only heal, run or die genuienly pisses me off and I want it to change. Sadly said change will not happen anytime soon because AGS figured that a huge two handed weapon should scale with effectively a rouge-like class stat.
Kudos.

The solution is you aren’t the best at either, just like in any other MMO. Moving to medium/heavy severely alters your healing output, as does low FOC.

Should of added dual wield instead of another 2h’er…
