It should be STR / INT, there is no weapon with those characteristics and only 1 melee weapon that goes for int. The next weapon should be a one handed mallet with hit damage that goes for DEX/CONC.
Makes more sense STR/FOC.
The only thing we do know is, it will be insanely powerful first week and than will be nerfed trough the ground xD

It’s true, I had forgotten.
It would make sense that it scaled only from str since it’s a big weapon like the GA and WH, but I wouldn’t mind split stats. What would be great is having slashes similar to the GA’s as light attacks and then the heavy attack were a thrust/stab, like the claymore in Elden Ring. I can’t wait for the release!
STR / DEX kinda makes sense considering the regular S&S is also STR / DEX. Plus it would make it more appealing for more builds considering they’re most likely do a big marketing push with the update. If it’s only Strength, a huge chunk of people are somewhat excluded from trying out the weapon without fully respeccing.
Greatsword should be Str/Con imo. They were used to charge lines of pikemen and route them. Really go full in on that Bruiser mentality. I could really see them play that way in game as well.

I dont think they want paladians with the armor healing nerfs
Build options are inherntly limited for it by the need for 300 str, all having hybrid scaling will do is gimp its damage.

It would be a waste of time to introduce a focus scaling weapon without nerfing rapier first.
That may be true to some degree, but truthfully we don’t have any idea what the greatsword is or does. It may have a deflection tree who knows. If they are trying to give us something we don’t already have, it may be a direct and better replacement for the rapier as a companion for lifestaff.
That’s what i’m hoping anyway.
Focus has precisely two weapons that scale with it at all :x
And the focus gems are so busted that all other weapons are just utility sticks, i would like to see that changed.

Correct, this needs to be a DPS only focus fire big boy rend/slow machine in my opinion.
Yes plz nerf it one shot me i was using a musket and i had 50 con thats crazy high for a musket and he one shot me anyways.
Primary con secondary str. Tank lifesteal weapon. Damages targets health to refill your stamina. Maybe that’s too big brain but would be nice

Oh my god great idea, after reading your comment the Blood DK from WoW came to mind, a heavy lifestealing weapon you could potentially tank with? sounds amazing.
Tanks are dying for some real taunt and aggro holds so maybe this could bring that?
