Greataxe lunge nerf Medium/light gear

The nerfs are fine, the lunge being completely removed, not so much. This is the only weapon with a catchup mechanic and my main complaint is im pidgeon holed into this to compete with ranged. Any other weapon is unplayable against chasing a ranged. Im not a GA fanatic and I agree with the damage nerfs but not being able to move when you swing makes closing a gap near impossible and especially if youre not in light armor. So what this means now is that i have to change my entire build from medium to light while I wait for 2 handed swords to come out and replace the great axe. Ive seen some ptr GA play and it looks awful in comparison. I really do care about this game and want it to succeed. I support the devs and the players. Dont go to overboard with these changes though devs, fire staff was nerfed too hard for damage. The ice gaunt nerf i felt was fine since its more of a cc/slow weapon. In conclusion, nerfing the lunge is totally warranted but removing it nearly completely was too much

IF the GA sucks too much after this BS update I will just switch to spear. Thing is they gonna nerf the hell out of every weapon eventually as people switch from bitching and moaning about all of them as the meta changes with the nerfs…

…that said might not be much people playing when they realize how bad this crap update will be and move on…

I just spent the last 3 hours on PTR, GA has less lunge than hatchet/hammer/void gauntlet/spear… They completely over nerfed the GA lunge. If youre going to nerf the catchup mechanics then keep the damage the same. They need to rebuff fire staff and nerf GA damage but keep the lunge because its basically unplayable. Or at least cut the lunge from 5m to 3m not 2m. Every swing youre stunning yourself for 1.5 seconds while you wind up your attack without any movement. If you take lunges away from weapons at least allow us to move while swinging because this is now going to be a ranged meta.

Everybody on the servers threatens “that nobody will play dis game” that it is getting boring. Don’t threaten, just leave, please. It is like listening to kids threating parents that they will not do cleaning in their rooms.

Imagine you only need to left click and your character teleport next to the enemy while you carry a heavy axe bigger than you, this is fine. A mague that hits hard? nah

the lunge isn’t completely removed, there’s still a lunge just not as aimbotty and pronounced. I’ve dueled good ga/wh players on the ptr and GA is still good, just gotta l2p.

I am ranged player, and that’s true I am beating most guys on my way.
But from time to time, I met someone who really can play and made an effort to improve their pvp skills. You can catch ranged in heavy, You can catch in medium.
Just think, use your brain. Use environment. Use properly skills, not the suck one.

Most important, just keep practise Your pvp.
Most of You guys really sucks, I mean really really sucks in pvp, but You all would be like to be equal. It is not the game when two people, pro and noob, will be using the same build, perks, skills, eq, and weapons, and they will be equal. TF? This is not that kind of game, and finally get it guys

Youre taking that statement out of context, Im all for reducing it, but when its lower than all of the other melee weapons its an overtune. Hammer for gods sake has a longer lunge now. Do you not see that as a problem?

Nope, it’s about the same lunge as S+S. They didn’t overtune it, it still lunges a lot in bloodlust range. I dueled against good players on PTR as ga/wh and it didn’t feel like it was nerfed at all, because they were actually using their abilities to catch me and not spam LMB into me until I died. There’s a reason they call ga/wh braindead.

know what happens when you charge FS? They dash away, out of BL range, you usually have to save the dash for the dash, and the lunge may have been too strong but removal isn’t smart at all. Because every range weapon can move and fire, no one is going to just stand there, meaning GA will not be able to hit anyone holding down any movement key. Either way they nerf everything more and more until it’s playability plummets, they make too many changes each time and it literally ruins the game. Smaller adjustments = better.

Happens in every MMO. PvP players will constantly and LOUDLY bitch about anything that kills them. Guaranteed. What amazes me, is developers listen to all that whiny crybaby crap and act on it. Almost always, the result is a significantly diminished PvE experience.

To the devs: focus on who’s paying the bills, not who’s making the most noise.

They nerfed it from 4.5m to 3.5m… Great Axe players are so fragile. I imagine they would implode if they received the sort of nerfs mages got last patch.

I don’t think ‘mages’ should have been nerfed, either! Devs should be very reluctant about nerfing anything, then when they decide a nerf is necessary, they need to move in baby-steps. MMO developers have the habit of using nuclear weapons to get rid of a pesky fly.

This was needed. Can’t have mobility on an auto attack like that. If GA is actually struggling they can look at buffing active mobility skills like bloodlust etc. Everything needs strengths and weaknesses. As a heavy user you risk being kited. But if you get in close you can CC and hurt and take a while to die. As it was before GA was too good at everything. Tanky super high damage and mostly unavoidable.

Charge cooldown vs ability to just run away while a melee is rooted to the ground in an attack animation? how can a melee now kill anyone who decides to run away and is not terrible at dodging abilities. And before you say LOL gravity well, I say LOL use a mobility to get out of it.

Charge on a 25 sec cd and we are essentially rooted when we swing… good luck ever touching a ranged again with no lunge. They keep calling melee bad but I’ve played mages and musket rapier gods that were nearly untouchable by creating distance long enough to land every shot and win. I’m by no means a scrub, multi gladiator in wow arenas and hero of the horde in shadowlands. All melee weapons should have the same lunge and a balanced one if we cannot swing while moving. Plain and simple
