I’m saying there shouldn’t be a stagger after dodge make it go right into full speed sprint just like it does if you animation cancel by weapon swapping or sheathe.
I am a bow user. For reference to a combat system with NO animation lock/roots and totally FREE movement look at the video OP linked. It looks 10x more responsive and fun to me although it’s clearly an old game.
im actually not really in love with iframes either i just didn’t mention it. Its 100% fact this game was dark souls inspired the devs have said it multiple times. that combat system is more or less scrapped however and we are left with this weird hybrid ESO darksouls combat that doesn’t do either as well as it could.
Personally I don’t complain about anything on this game I just try to find ways around it for example a lot of bow users on my server moan about muskets if you just see what way they dodge first you counter it by shooting in the direction their going to dodge next.
Or save big dps abilities on the ignite shot reload aka free headshot that will be 5k dmg.
Nah I agree on this 100% I was more giving my personal show on it, I have 5000+ hours or dark souls 3 doing the pvp fighting in the swamp so I get you on that.
Edit: I know thats a lot of hours okay I really enjoy the game.
I think question we need to be asking each other is: imagine this games combat but everything is done at sprint speed (casting/shooting/melee swinging).
Does that sound more FUN? More fluid? Less clunky?
I just think medium and light dodges should have no clunky stopping as for heavy they should have it because its heavy gear because you’re trading it for high defences.
The changes sound pretty solid except increasing movement capabilities. The game already has I-Frames on dodge rolls, dodge roll canceling to change up your timing, and abilities that refund stamina to abuse these frames. I don’t want this game turning into apex B-hopping and tap strafing when your trying to hit someone with ranged attacks.
Tap strafing was removed from apex for that reason. I do think apex has a really solid grasp on player movement though. although it is an fps and this is an mmo/shooter/hybrid type game.
this is how i (and i think most others that aren’t spamming the meta) view everyone with voidbent / hammer / axe in OPR. you simply cannot do enough damage to them fast enough before they’re on your neck clicking LMB
The “locks” arent really a big problem
I for my part find it a nice and “fun” part of the combat.
What i absolutly dislike and hate are the Animation cancelings that seems to be bugs and not working as intendet (aka weapon swap in dodge roll, Jump to reload ect.)
On the other side i HATE that u cant cancel your attacks with a dodgeroll or block^^ So it seems i dont know what i want ><
Weird how ur fine about a Gaxe user gliding across the map using left click but u don’t like animation cancelling which is what people need to do to actually properly get away from Gaxe user.
The lung nerf is fine. The lungs where a little to strong.
That they did something against the hitlock it also ok but we will c how it plays out in wars.
Don’t even need to give see_me any attention. He’s a sad troll that lives on these forums, thinks he’s good and everyone else is just bad while loudly and constantly screeching that his weapon combo is balanced as if he’s trying to convince himself it is.
