Everything else has knockdowns, staggers, stuns, etc. Exhaust is actually really good vs onslaught GS too.

You have options man. When GS first came out I would fight them with VG/rapier and it became a lot easier with nullifying oblivion and diminishing orb to wipe their buffs(does not work on the stances though). Getting rid of all the various empowers that they get and then being able to scream and punish them.
GS has more options homie and a second weapon to contend with which is usually Gaxe with charge/reap/bloodthirst/grav or SNS with leap/bash/shieldrush.
Stop coping bros. Itâs a broken weapon, we all know it. It was given literally every tool, insane lunge (which was nerfed from GA long ago), and one button combos. Itâs hilariously broken.
Just because you can kill a GS sometimes doesnât mean it isnât broken. Itâs way over tuned, but every weapon is when itâs released. Look at the trajectory of VG and BB.

If you agree that itâs broken then it needs tuned and there is no point talking about whether it can be sometimes beaten.
It can be beaten consistently 1v1. That doesnât mean that it isnt broken af but it has weaknesses for sure. 1 v whatever is a whole dif story though. thats like nearly impossible imo lol.

This is where muskets lose a lot of people. It should be a duel, sure. It should be a losing duel where you are seriously disadvantaged though.
Your post seems to describe this duel as getting too far away for the melee to hit you though. The difficulties you describe are not in actually fighting, but in escaping so you can reset and go back to the ranged vs. melee dynamic.
I dont think people are on board with that. I am just going by my own opinion on the matter, but i think the idea is that you have very limited ability to reset this encounter to range vs. melee. once the gap is closed. You have to actually fight him, not just burn your escapes. That said, you can triple roll and fleche away, cant you? I get confused when we go into the musket roll budget but somehow rapier abilities dont make the cut.
This is where i would say you need to land a riposte, burn fleche, juke without burning resources, or die.
Since I predominately play arenas, my concerns are a bit different than other players.
Too be clear, my concerns are not about fully disengaging. Itâs about being able to fight back at all. When I fight other melee weapons besides the GS and S&S, I can get out of melee range for about 1 to 3 seconds to fire a ranged attack and then the attacker is on me again. I think that is fair. I am always within like 10m of the melee player. I can die if I make a mistake, but I also have the chance to fight back.
When fighting against the GS/S&S it doesnât seem possible to create any space to fight back. Due to the tracking/distance closers/slows of the GS/S&S you are required to use all of your resources (dodges/abilities) to simple not die. This isnât a problem in OPR. You can use all of your resources and then reposition with your 19 other teammates. You will be safe. In arenas, though, it doesnât seem possible to survive multiple GS/S&S focusing you. You have to use all of your cooldowns to avoid one GS/S&S, which leaves you vulnerable to the second or third attacker. Moreover, the rapier cannot trade attacks with a S&S/GS.
It wasnât like this before when fighting multiple S&Ss. Before, you could dodge the main abilities of the S&S from multiple attackers and survive. I would likely die if I got hit by leap or shield bash. Now, however, if I get hit just once from a S&S light attack, I will likely die. It went from it being plausible to fighting 1vX S&Ss to, I think, impossible.
I think it should be plausible to 1vX anyone with any weapon if you make no mistakes. That is what makes action games fun. I do not think that is possible when going against S&S/GS opponents. It really feels like Build A trumps Build B, and therefore Build A always wins. I donât have any problems with the other melee weapons. There is something uniquely different about the Sword&shield and greatsword.
What would be fair in my opinion? Being able to create enough space to shoot once or twice at you before you are on top of me again, and I have enough resources to dodge your attacks. If I mess up my dodges just once I die.

So far Iâve found this crazy 100-0HP combo only to be true against 50 con light.
Yeah this is the reality. There are better combos for killing light armor users currently, itâs more so the ease of use of the GS and itâs ability to cleave. You can definitely counter it but you pretty much need a stun or stagger and one mobility cd in every GS encounter/matchup. Multiple GS though, yeah your probably dead unless you have a hammer.
Itâs also almost impossible to 1vx muskets with SnS (assuming the muskets can aim at all). Just saying, this pendulum swings both ways. Musket is like the most disadvantaged build in the game in arenas (small closed confined space) yet it is still possible to do well with it because its damage is nigh ridiculous and hitscan. I hate to be that guy, but it really seems like you donât want any counters.
I think itâs totally possible for a S&S to 1vX Mutiple muskets now, especially in arenas and especially if you use medium armor.
I get will likely not garner any sympathy because of peopleâs distain for the musket.
Nevertheless, two wrongs donât make a right. It wasnât good gameplay for light armor to run circles around everyone else and itâs not good gameplay to have builds hard-counter other builds (unless the game goes completely rock-paper-scissors).
I am opposed to hard-counters in video games. Itâs not like my musket build hard counters anyone in arenas.
