I was able to fix my situation by doing the following
Switch to the NW installation folder
Rename/delete the following files (if present!):
bootstrap.cfg
debug.log
engine.json
fuel.json
system_windows_pc.cfg
Switch into the assets folder
Rename/delete the following files/folders (if present!):
Data-Strm-part25.pak
TexturesLowMips.pak
VegetationStrm-part4.pak
VegetationStrm-part5.pak
Gems (folder)
levels (folder)
Config (folder / RENAME ONLY, e.g. “Config.old”)
Let Steam check the files of the game
Some things should get re-downloaded now
Try and start the game now. If it complains about a missing Application Configuration file, let Steam re-check the files
Should the application Configuration Error still appear, try again with Step 5 a few times (~3)
The game should boot up again
Explanation:
I 'm playing since the alpha and I basically carried the old client over to public preview and that one over to release (just copy the folder and let Steam download the changed files). I therefore figured that old data- and configuration files could be the cause since they might be optionally loaded by the game if present, which can cause a lot of trouble.
To make sure this wasn’t the cause, I went through the folder and renamed/deleted everything which hasn’t been touched since I installed the game.
The success of my method in my case makes me believe that my conclusion holds true, I have no issues with blurred ground textures anymore and load times are low.
I’m going to wait for tomorrow maintenance and see if thing change for better. If not, then I’ll take break from game. I’m getting tired of Dev team incompetence, game feels worst (more bugs/thing not working properly) then it was on day one (it’s a shame).
No zone related. I experienced a few times that ALL the vegetation of the game dissapeared for 10 seconds. This happens every once in a while. I mean i saw all the trees without leaves, no grass and could see miles away.
Hmmm, I’ll give this a try. i see it all over the place still since the 3v3 patch. I was in WF last night and it was all over the place with the blurred textures. And I do from time to time have al vegetation just vanish then re appear.
Yeah these issues started for me 2 patches ago primarily when entering the valley of bone in Morningdale. After the last patch I now get this same issue in many zones.
I came here looking for a solution for washed out ground textures. It happens to me everywhere. in sand in CK, the ground in EG virtually anywhere. One thing I’ve noticed, I can get them to load if I pan to a top-down view they will load slowly. Running a 6800XT 32GB of memory.
I am having same issue. Also, like the poster above me, seem to be able to ‘kick start’ stuck textures by moving camera to top down. 6700xt, 16GB, R5 5600X
Is there any world on a fix for this? Currently I can’t go more than 10 minutes in the game without all the ground textures going out, and it’s pretty frustrating. I’ve got a 3080 RTX, so extra not happy about it (and from what I’ve read, seems to be affecting the better systems).
Hey John, just wanted to let you know that this Fixed the following issues I was having:
-Ground and water randomly not loading in and being completely transparent.
-EXTREMELY long load times when recalling/fast traveling (I have a 10900k, 2080 super, SSD)
Same issue is happening to me still happening to me. If I pan the camera overhead looking straight down the textures eventually load. Here is the weird thing. I just recently came back to the game from launch month last year. I had a character on Yggradsil. My friend picked up the game and started on El Dorado so I joined him there. If I go onto my original character on Yggradsil the blurry ground texture issue doesn’t happen. If I log onto my new character on El Dorado it does. Both are USA west coast. I’ll add that I also did the editing file DPI trick in properties and that seemed to help a little but not completely.
