Group Finder: Utter Failure

I’m sure as players have already found out that the group finder is pretty much useless. After playing a few hours during primetime, very few players were utilizing the group finder for expeditions (regular or mutated).
I think they missed a very easy opportunity for players to utilize this feature much more than the next to zero traffic right now.
What they should have done was provide a bonus or an incentive for players to utilize the group finder for expeditions (whether it buffs you with an attribute, luck for drops, damage of a certain type, or something!).
I think this would have helped the popularity, because right now, most people are still spamming in recruitment chat for running content instead of creating groups in the finder.
Even if they use the group finder, players are STILL having to spam in recruitment chat to fill a missing class spot.
Ridiculous. Poor thought process in the development of this feature. Just slapped it together, not really realizing how they would get players to use it. They immediately thought everyone would use it and it would be a hit… “Looks like Mama was wrong again…”

Group finder IS and major failure and it shows. Every patch that we see add new feature seems like a high-school vanity project just to pass the grade. AGS has decided to ignore any kind of feedback from players.

They would of been better off just introducing automatic group finder for dungeons where you are matched with random people who sign up for dungeon and still this would of been more useful. Current system is unusable.

I get the question in my head nearly every patch with new features: “How did this pass QA at any level?” or “Did any of the developers actually try it themselves and called it a good feature?”

AGS game mechanic/tool designs are so bad that even ppl who have no clue about IT at all are asking how its possible. I mean you dont need degree to make somehow useful tools. Just some experience with other games would make it enough.

Lmao! You have to be joking right??

No one is using it because it’s not needed. You’re on a server with 2k people max. I would bet most folks only run with company members or people they know because of how bad pugs usually are in this game. Wow was bad at times, but I’ve never played another game where the skill gap is as massive as it is here. That all factors into why people won’t use it.

It’s more wasted dev time and adding a “reward” for using it… You’re trying to advocate for them to reward people to play with strangers instead of their friends. It’s not going to work because nothing they offer could ever be worth having to deal with the type of players who are forced to use this system because they’re incapable of unwilling to create relationships with people. No thanks.

Tons of wasted dev hours right here that could have been put into actual gameplay. Sadge.

I correct, the equipment gap.

There are too many perks and equipment that you have to put together to be able to mutate m10. They should reduce the number of perks and make them more general.

There should be 1 perk that works for plague resistance and corruption resistance alike for example.

Or simplify the elaboration to such an extent that you can create armor/weapons with the perks you deem convenient.

But this system as it is, is not working.

one feature that was mentioned so many times was the inspect gear option, yet no sign of anything of the sort, sad really

Time and again the developers of New World prove to not learn from the valuable lessons others have made. Specifically with how to make group finder work. Wow is probably one of the best examples of how group finder should work. It’s cross realm, you choose a role, you don’t get to choose an instance and the roles that are short get extra rewards encouraging them to fill the needs of the que at the time.

I relate mutations to raids and for raids you need special gear and in raids you que for the raid specifically. In Wow you que for the “Wing” specifically so that big long raids are broken down into small chunks. The difficulty in LFR is also tuned down below that of a normal raid. Now I havent played WoW in a while they may have added the ability to que for PUG Normals, Heroics, and Mythics but when I stopped playing you could only que for LFR difficulty versions of that content. It was dumbed down so you could experience it and it had inferior rewards.

Personally for LFR in New World I would do something a bit different to make it all work.

Modify Perks
When using the group finder “Ward” perks would be creature type agnostic as would “Bane” perks. It wouldn’t matter what type of ward you have equipped it would function against any creature type and bane the same thing. This allows the que to be totally random.

Modify Creature Weaknesses and Strengths
In the LFR expeditions all mobs are neutral to all damage types. Bring what you want come have fun. This would include the resistances applied by mutation effects. Again everyone is welcome this is for learning mechanics and the game. This would mean magical damage types are irrelevant in this format.

In LFR you have several options you can que for:

  • Specific Regular Expedition (Normal Difficulty)
  • Random LFR Expedition (650 Recommended)
  • Random Normal LFR Mutation - Mutation (580 Required)
  • Random Intermediate LFR Mutation - Mutation and Promotion (602 Required)
  • Random Hard LFR Mutation - Mutation, Promotion, and Curse (606 Required)
  • Random Elite LFR Mutation - Mutation, Promotion, and Curse II (613 Required)
  • Random LFR Mutation - (Any LFR Mutation up to Highest Difficulty Unlocked)

LFR BUFF
When the group wipes they gain a permanent empowerment buff until the expedition closes. On top of improving damage output each stack also increases healing output as well. Essentially this is a guarantee that the players will complete the instance and not give up and quit.

Umbral Shard Rewards
Instead of the traditional Bronze/Silver/Gold the rewarded umbral shards would be based on the final score achieved.

The multipliers earned dictates the number of umbral shards you get and each difficulty has a baseline umbral reward even if you fail your way to success.

Normal rewards 6 umbral shards (potentially 36).
Intermediate rewards 15 umbral shards (potentially 90).
Hard rewards 100 umbral shards (potentially 600).
Elite rewards 200 umbral shards (potentially 1200).

Its good to have this PF but happends what I expected, ppl dont use pugs and run with their guild. Everyone know how dungeons looks like with randoms very often it is awful experience. Anyway I made PF it filled in 1-2 mins, but only healer was useful … I had people who wanted to run Lazarus with musket and got mad when I told swap to hammer or VG … no sorry I dont want play with this kind of people…

I think the group finder that was implemented was mainly for low level and normal dungeons. An improved version of the group search engine is coming, and that will surely bring more functions. Keep crying about it is just being a spoiled child.

As they said, its the v1.0

After using it about 5-6 times I like it so far. When no one is online and you are bored you can always find a group!

Spoiled Child? Really? Let me try to explain why people are frustrated with this update, starting with why players want a group finder. Although the need for a group finder was always present since the start of the game I don’t remember it becoming popular until the mutation update. After that update it was made clear that you were going to have to spend a lot of time in expeditions to get the best gear possible. The majority of the best named gear comes from expeditions. Shards not only increase your base damage & damage reduction but at a certain point gave you extra attribute points. They also have the ability to unlock the third perk of named items after getting to 600.

After the release of mutated expeditions competitive players were able to form groups and blast through the mutation levels quickly level up their gear to 625. This gave them a huge advantage because not only was their gear significantly better than before but it also gave them the ability to sell shards.

TL;DR: You need to spend a large amount of time in expeditions to level up gear. Hard to do so when you’re using the recruitment channel to find players to start them.

The release date for group finder on the “Official Unofficial” road map was for the summer season. It was then suppose to be included in the July Monthly Update but was delayed for “additional scale testing”. Now when it’s finally released it is not doing the job it was intended to do. This is a result of the developers not making good decisions while designing how the group finder would be implemented. They admitted this along with explaining the reasons for the delay that include not having the required testing tools and feature quality issues.

That being said, the group finder is working, it does include additional features that I use and am grateful for. I’m also hoping that they continue improving the quality of their testing and updates. However, this update is the same as the rest, each failing to live up to expectations and possibly taking months to fix. Here’s a short list of changes that were at the very least hinted at in November but haven’t been implemented.

can never please pve’ers sheeesh

You think PvP’rs are easy to please? They’ve never been pleased and for good reason. lmfao

I think pvpers are easy to please but MMO devs don’t bother because we’re also much harder to monetize…

honestly only the real nice take aways from this are the indicators by the players name to show you what role they are and the fact you can queue it from anywhere on the map other than that the rest isnt just unimpressive to say the least but its at minimal a good building block to go from

Seeing their physical gearscore and weapons is nice.

They can see my level 13 rapier I take into depths. Lmao.

They can also see my 50/300/50/100 Con stat split I take.

“Dark, you better be full warded you animal.”

So we all agree that the current system of the game sucks, which is good to know. And be careful, that was not said by a “PvP”.
