You can speed run to level 60 in about 100 hours of game play (that’s the best I have seen). For me, it took about 200 hours and I rushed it. Now, at about 700 hours, I haven’t yet completed a single 580 weapon quest. Many of them are partial but not completed as of yet. Who know how much longer it will take for that let alone most of my weapon watermarks are around 530. How long will it take to get 6 weapons to 600?
All weapons, after the next patch, will be nerfed if traded to you or bought from the market. The only weapons that won’t are watermarked ones, 580 quests and those you and you alone craft. This kinda defeats the purpose of having a single person specialized in crafting. As, they cannot make the highest tier weapons for anyone but themselves. It’s stupid and should be removed.
If you focus your time more on crafting than watermarking, 580 quests and even faction missions. I bet you can get yourself the capability to make yourself legendary weapons and armor way before 500 hours in game. Right now you need at least (or so it seems) a 1000 hours in game to watermark everything up.
And, only then can you appreciate the full value of high gear score items you can get after the patch.
So, to me (maybe I’m wrong), the quickest way to legendary gear and weapons is to craft away without doing any faction missions. That will also inherently level you up to 60.
Ok, I can agree that if you hyperfocus on leveling crafting you can get the highest GS items faster than expertise.
But then, should people do that for every craft in the game? Because when you farm GS you are leveling everything, and with gypsum you can speed up specific items that are more useful to you, so you don’t have to worry about leveling for example, weaponsmithing for your main weapon, engineering for your secondary, and armouring for your armor… What would be more fun way to level up, 500 hours of farming resources or doing PvP/PvE?
Not to mention again that leveling crafting is a money sink all the way to 200, even if you farm everything yourself, you sill have bottlenecks when it comes to station taxes, refining reagents and legendary materials to craft specific 600 gear you might want
Also, I thought all crafted weapons would be exempt from the expertise level, not only weapons you made for yourself, if that is the case then it will make it even worse, as crafted weapons lose a advantage they had over looted ones in terms of trade value
They are increasing the amount of XP/level for all trade skills:
Weapon smithing level 1: 100->120
Weapon smithing level 200: 43400->176400
also increasing XP rewarded
Anyone know if this is true? got this from a datemine thread on reddit. Also need someone to explain it to me cus I no understand it
This is true, but it’s already in the game, this was from before the 1.1 patch, this change was already implemented and it is what I’m complaining about in the first part of my post
I am a gatherer and refiner and have logging and woodworking maxed out at 200. I don’t have any crafting at 200 yet.
I enjoy the game by being out in the world in the forests , mountains and fields and gathering stuff to refine to sell for gold and to add a touch to slowly increase my crafting. My highest level is engineering at 175.
I was enjoying making gold, had 70,000 made up from trading all kinds of woods, glittering ebony etc and have bought a few 600GS items from the market for 3000 or so so I can be competetive in invasions, wars and endgame content.
Now with upcoming changes Devs tell us that I’ve been ‘bypassing the progression loop’ by not HWM grinding which I’ve not found to be particularly engaging.
I’m being punished for not playing how they envisage a player should play?!?!
I’m just playing within the game mechanics THEY designed and they are moving the goalposts on us as if it is some early access game!
The beauty of making gold and being able to choose your items from the market meant you didn’t have to deal with the stress of continual failed rolls, of hundreds of useless crafts just to get one good one and could pick items with good perks at your leisure. Even then its RNG as to what will be available being dependant on what crafters and loot drops will be placed for sale.
In turn I contributed thousands of wood, plants and foodstuffs and arcana mats to the economy for players to use for their crafting and now I’m being told that I’m ‘bypassing the progression loop’ and my efforts are not valued by the devs?
This is a crazy situation and I feel that items bought off the trading post need to NOT downscale to a players Watermark/expertise.
I will grind my expertise slowly and surely but its not a priority. Why should I be punished for wanting to play the game the way i enjoy especially if I have been providing crafters with hundreds of thousands of the very mats that are in the weapons that I buy from the market!
No, only weapons crafted by yourself are exempt from expertise. Anything you trade or sell will be nerfed. And, prepatch items will remain the same.
I agree that you will have bottlednecks. I don’t think station taxes are as big of a deal. As, you can focus on reducing those with settlement reputation. Refining reagents can be troublesome. But, if you focus on crafting then you are making plenty of items that are sellable. Especially crafting parts.
TBH, I think the game is too small (coming from an eve online background). Missions are too limiting. They should add trade and crafting mission types. There are no trade routes as the map is small are resources are available in many regions. Faction warfare let alone joining one should be optional. And, every change they make appear to be attempts to delay the inevitable realization that their open world is very confined and static.
Damn, I got all my gathering and refining to 200 ( even fishing) and decided I wanted to start doing weapon then armour, that xp nerf is a real bummer. guess I gotta rely on my company to help me craft my gear timeless shards should help aslong as the items crafted are not BoP
