We all know how broken in PVP Hatchet is. But lets talk here about: how Hatchet destroyed PVE balance. As you know, most ppl to progress need to do mutations, its hard to be taken to group, if you not play Hatchet or GS. Hatchet has insane PVE DPS, and immortality for 3sec, when your hp is 0. What about tanks? Tank ofc need Sns, but also need to use Hatchet, because of best aggro skill Berserk, survivability, DPS. People who dont want play Hatchet are struggling to join mutations, when there are like 2-3lobbies on server. People will not take you to lobby, simply because you have no GS or Hatchet.
Weird the people i watch do m10 mutations usually run spear/rapier or spear/hatchet.
Sounds like Mage needs love not hatchet needs nerf.
So people finally succeeded in nerfing the Greatsword and now we’re jumping on the “nerf the hatchet” bandwagon?
What weapon is it that you guys that don’t know how to play use so I can start using “that” and play something people won’t maybe whine about needing nerfing.

Even the generally regarded as weakest, Fire Staff. Use flamethrower on a bruiser doing maelstrom who is used to consuming all projectiles and watch them cry flamethrower OP
I run mutations as a tank and you do not “need” to run a hatchet for berserk. It is actually worse to run a hatchet and deprive your group of cc that helps you stay alive as well. Sns’s Defenders Resolve functions the same way that berserk does for taunting enemies. Running a SNS with refreshing move is really all you need to be able to taunt every 10-15 seconds. What tanks should have on their off hand is a weapon with crowd control like a great axe or hammer.
Secondly, I’ve seen other posts about not being accepted if you don’t have a hatchet. I have never encountered this. The only thing that you need to have besides gear score at M8+ is Ward Gear and bane weapons. My groups regularly consist of bow users, hammers, great axes, and hatchets.
If you aren’t being accepted to a group that requires you to link your gear, are you being told that its because of your weapon choice?

Balance is an illusion without homogenization.
Any diversity in the way a weapon works or its abilities from any other and one will always out perform in a segment of instances and be considered the meta.
Balance should never be approached from a perspective of lowering performance for a given item but instead buffing everything else to that standard. Approaching balance that way provides a significant advantage to perception from the players and leads to player retention over nerfs which drive players to quit the game. Especially considering that balance is an illusion, why lose customers over something you can’t actually achieve?
Seems better for business to buff the other stuff people been saying isn’t strong enough.
