In the last dev blog, the developers said that they knew that heavy armor was very weak in pvp and that they had several ideas for its improvement.
The new ptr has arrived and nothing has changed, heavy armor is still horrible, with no reason to use it. Light and medium set guarantee much more survival.
I understand they made the mobility change for each armor type, but it was an irrelevant change for the meta.
Heavy armor doesn’t need more mobility, it needs to be more tanky, mitigate more damage, make blocking as efficient as dodging (not just with shield, with all weapons). Because in the current situation, there’s no reason for anyone to wear heavy armor.
Heavy armor is fine. The problem is that light is overpowered with shirking energy. Heavy doesn’t need more mobility, it is not supposed to be mobile. It’s supposed to tank damage.
I honestly don’t think the problem is mobility, because if we invest in it, it can mischaracterize the type of armor. I don’t mind the enemies running away from me easily, but it’s absurd in direct combat, with medium or light armor, tanking more since the whole game is based on dodge.
Fully agree, however our survival is very low compared to the rest. Well, why would I want to mitigate damage, if I can just “nullify” all damage with a dodge? We have to have exclusive perks for heavy armor.
