The basic fantasy trope has been that heavy armor probably isn’t that great a defense against magic in general. Though in some particular situations it can do so.
That’s probably where this came from for the devs.
The question is do the elemental protection gems currently not work? Or are they simply of no value against that kind of damage?
i have voidbent heavy( i know it’s trash) but man its magic resistance, and i got damaged more than guy with GA trying to kill me…
that’s what im telling, i mean 2.2k is big defence , i can put some ruby(against fire) i can put some diamonds aswell but is there any point for real…
its obviously not the best pvp gear.
you aut to ask one of the guys that is killing you with magic and try and test some armor off the market.
anything decent purples if you have to.
just to see what stacking elemntal/phsycial/gems and stuff might do.
but still question is, how the guy with WH heavy attack attacks me 1k with crit. and guy throwing fireball with 2.8 crit and im 2.2k elemental def 
the most likely answer is the wh guy is running 300/200 with con
the mage is most likely in absolute max light with all stats into int.
its what ranged glass cannon does.
edit: also say what you will about voidbent. it does all come with crit resistance.
and my damage on him is 1.5-2k not nice
sorry you mean against the mages or against the other GA?
like i said voidbent has resiliance stacks so any crits are going to be meh.

I just comparing GA for example which do damage 1.5k in heavy attack and fire staff with regular attack 1.5k but i have more elemental resistance…
if the FS is absolute glass cannon. shouldnt that be the case in the first place?

bow damage to me is from 2 till 3.5k
im recieving same damage in medium set with different stats. Question is - what’s point of heavy if damage is same
so that is still within range of what you are saying no? (considering 1.2x ori ammo, reduced by res and physicals on crits)
but mages do almost same dmg with more resistance
I think we’re missing at least some of their point.
It’s not just a complaint about a load of damage being dumped on them.
Rather it is why is it that this player has a higher resistance to Elemental damage than Physical damage yet takes more damage from Elemental magic.
I think @desubot 's answer is the most reasonable answer.
It’s not just about this person’s build, but about their opponent’s build as well.
if we really want to see if elemental resist is messed up then controlled testing is needed.
thats about the only way to actually know.
