Help me understand DMG disparity in PVP

Cause the whole “oh 25gs doesn’t make a diff” is utter bs.
Get your wep to 625 and gear to like 619+ and you’ll notice youll hit for 3-4k and up to 5-6 on people with not good 600gear

That explosive perk (on weapon) is kinda meh.

Yeah the gearscore difference is anything but small, its extremely snowbally as well.

Get your bow to 625 first, youre missing out on base damage.

Then focus on getting single stat items to 623 and split stats to 619 for the 10 extra stat points.

GS doesnt matter, its just a skill issue. I have BIS bow and 385 dex and 100 con and do the same dmg with light attack. Improve your bow mastery for dps and also go light. With heavy attack it goes from 2 to 5k usually which is high already… I dont have bow weapon perks.

Its the only useful perk for bow lmao but u shouldnt have it on weapon ….attu+keen jag+enchanted. + empl on armor. And penetrating shot and evade shot as skills.

Skill doesn’t make your numbers add up higher. Damage numbers are a build issue

A 625 weapon will make a big difference in your damage.

You may be taking so much damage because of lack of thrust resistance. A lot of dex players run like 30% thrust resistance.

They say that 625 armor doesn’t matter that much, like a 2% difference in damage mitigation.

Someone posted a video yesterday of them using a bow in OPR. They were hitting for low-3k non-crit body shots, which seems excessive.

Yeah, it’s such a skill issue that 99,9% of serious PvP players will farm PvE to get all their gear to 625 because they enjoy doing it.

There is nothing to see here, learn to play OP !

Bow needs a damage nerf if it’s going to keep the rate of fire and burst potential it has. Waaay too consistent for not enough effort.

Oh boy…

Do I even bother?

I agree tbh, I dont even consider myself a bow main actually. I got my hands on a nice bow and decided to pivot that direction while my mage gear was still in its infancy.

I went all in with the dex build thinking “hey these bow guys 2 shot me all the time, I guess I can do it too”.

Turned out to not be the case. I guess I will take the advice of some on this thread and pump 10k umbrals into the bow and see what happens.

If all else fails, I can just “get good” as pointed out by the one guy with brain damage in the 3rd reply.

One thing very difficult to track are buffs since they are hidden. Some players walk fully buffed by a healer nearby that you may not see (good healers are good at hiding and just throwing heals and buffs). They can be armor or empower buffs, they make a massive difference, especially on light armor.

The getting better aspect relate to keeping your own self buffs up more too, to have more dmg or better protection.

Part of it is your relative bow mastery or lack thereof.
Part of it is not using a 625 Bow.
Part of it is that you are outputting pure Thrust damage.
Part of it is you’re using the Sight runeglass in your armor.
Part of it is most likely your bow build.

There are many reasons why you are not performing as you have seen others perform. If you resolve those issues, you will see your damage increase. But it’s hard to assist you better without seeing your gear and build to make suggestions for improvement.

Pure thrust damage can do quite a lot versus someone who is not geared/gemmed against thrust, as shown below, but that is the rare exception.

The 6k hit is the 3rd Rapid shot, followed by the 3k Penetrating shot. I used this bow, but this clip was taken, I believe, before Runeglass was in the game, as I believe I was only using a Cut Pristine Opal at the time.

What is “relative bow mastery”?

So if you’re just light attacking body shots, you’ll never do the damage in the above clip. While I missed the first two rapid shots, the third one was a dead on headshot that staggered him, allowing for the fast follow up penetrating shot to finish him off. The clip is only 3 seconds, but the damage window is between .5 and .75 seconds, which means that guy went from 100%-0% in less than a second.

If you have a high level of relative bow mastery, you’ll be able to duplicate or exceed the damage numbers above, repeatedly. If you have a low level of relative bow mastery, you’ll probably never duplicate or exceed the above shot.

It’s basically quantifying your bow mastery on a scale. At the low end, you can’t even hit light auto attacks repeatedly on a target dummy. On the high end, you can delete players, like I did in the above clip, repeatedly, in almost every condition.

Sorry if this does not clear things up, I’m half asleep while typing this. I can make another attempt to explain in the morning, if you would prefer.

Until you post your armor and weapon, no one will be able to answer your question.

The difference between GS 607 and 625 is in any case not big

if u want trade shot against other bow u prob go full resi + physical/ele aversion + trust protection gems and amulet

its all about the timing guess, stacking buffs as much as you can to increase your damage for the next shot, for example increase 15% damage after dodge, increase 12%damage when your stamina is not full something like that.

Mortal empowerment

Mortal empower 10-15 stacks, OPR is not good content u have too many free fortifies Tent lvl 3- 9%, each, baron 15%. Bread 5%. Other things Rapid shot perk ? Explosive arrow perk ?. Dodge for 15% empower before shot.

There’s way too many things that can increase or decrease damage, in one game you’ll feel like a god, in others you’ll feel like you’re back at 500gs.

The only thing you can do (as a bow user) is get your weapon to 625 asap and ALWAYS use Battle Bread and a Honing stone.

Have at least 25% thrust resistance and consider getting some Physical Aversion/Res gear over Shirking/Res.
