- What is your character name in New World: Knavery
- What server/world did you experience your issue on: Olympus
- Describe the issue you are experiencing: Ive run into quite a lot of players that do not have a name above there heads. I have even tried many times to run up to them and press H but nothing, no menu pops up, it seems to be majority on bots so i don’t know if they have found a way around getting reported. but I’ve seen many fishing flickers and large groups running in high level areas without armor on in the nude that have it. and a few normal players. BTW i have max name plates on and not lagging or having latency issues.
- Is this a bug or an exploit: Exploit?
- (if a bug) How did the issue effect your gameplay: Unable to report, unable to know if a different faction is about to kill me?
- (if a bug) Were you able to recover from the issue: no?
- (if a bug) Please include a screenshot or video of the issue that you have experienced:
- What are the steps to reproduce the issue as you experienced:
Screenshots would be very helpful here Knavery. I don’t know I haven’t been on but for 2 hours since last patch and didn’t see more then 2 players (I was farming where few go) so can’t speak about the issue but this could be a problem?
Those are not hidden names rather names with letters/characteristics that cannot be displayed because New World has certain ASCII letters not to be displayed, hence why you can’t copy certain text into the game and click enter and it doesn’t allow you to send.
The same method is used to create these character names however finding a set or letters to bypass that verification it seems, a mistake in coding, and thus not displaying anything because it’s unsupported.
But all in all, this is not an issue at all, because when you do report a player, through the ingame feature, yes it should display the name of the player you’re reporting yadda yadda, but it doesn’t really matter, because the report also includes player id, game id, etc for the staff to review, so nothing is really “invisible”.
Just report the player if you find him sketchy enough, and do report if you see something unusual and explain your situation, it will get looked at.
So your saying these ASCII letters are hiding the level, and faction? also making it where you cannot press H on them to open the player menu? I don’t know about you, but that seems to be a problem to me? IF they chat I’m sure you can report them that way… but if you go through all the trouble of making a char name invisible I’m sure you are not going to broadcast it in world chat…
I’ve seen these too, you can’t report someone when pressing H on them does nothing and they have no name displayed to type in social.
I submitted feedback in the first week about nameless players, some were popping into existence right next to nodes and even inside nodes, mining them with 1-3 hits as if they have max strength and mining level then vanishing again.
Others were visibly under the ground with just their headgear and handle of their back holstered
weapon poking through the ground as they harvested Hemp around Hermits Shrine, they appeared to “slide” through the ground much faster than other players could run, like a Graboid out of the Tremors movies just grabbing hemp plants instead of people.
I think the Easy Anti Cheat has caught a lot of them doing stuff like that because I’ve not seen any since the first week or so of the game, but people without nametags is still a thing and you definitely can not report them with the tools in game.
There’s a few points I would like to address to this.

Regarding not being able to press H, it’s because the command is blocked for characters not recognized by the name so the prompt won’t appear, however, you can overwrite this by getting close to a player, pressing enter, then clicking anywhere in the chatbox to not write in the message field then pressing H, the field should appear then for you to report the player.

Regarding the mining issue this is an actual bug that makes any collectable node with a depleting “health” remove faster than unusual with a nifty trick (caused by the game) and not a hack, I will submit a full report on that to someone that will look into it as I’m actually making a video on that next (privately to the staff not for public).
I’ve also realized its becoming more and more of an exploit of the bug and people are using it to their advantage as they’ve figured it out too.
Last but not least, the people visible under map, this is caused by forcing your player to go out-of-bounds, not similar to “no-clip” were you can freely roam outside the bounds but however forced by a certain action.
This can be caused by finding for example a collectable object, crouch below it and doing a set of actions to make your character stand, and then you get pushed below, finding these weakspots, of course I won’t expose some, as I already know a few spots, these will be obviously looked at and avoided.
If you see players do that, please do report it and also include what area they were in and provide a screenshot, it’ll be easier to narrow it down where they forced their character to do so
