High CPU Temps in game

Hey there!

So, I am loving every single second I have spent in New World! The only issue I am having is my CPU temp and usage in the game. I keep having spikes of 100% usage and my CPU has jumped up to 96c + in temp. I’m extremely worried about this.

Its a Intel i7-9700k.

Any ideas on how to keep temps down? This is the only game this happens with. Other games my CPU stays in the 50c range.

Sounds hardware related, some games dont push the CPU, but new world does, You should run some CPU benchmarks for 30 mins and see what temps you get, if they are also high its a cooling problem, not a game problem.

Here are the temps from the benchmarks I had ran earlier tonight. I used Userbenchmarks software to run it.

Yeh thats not useful, it doesnt run long enough or push the CPU hard enough to drive temps. Try Aida64, prime95 or Intelburn test. Leave them on at least 15 minutes to replicate gaming temps inside case and see what you get.

Hi @pineapplespizzas

Thank you for the report. Im sorry for the issue you have. After checking the website notes for the following New World Compatible GPU Driver Update - Support, I noticed they have new software drivers and avoid overheating is one of the improvements they are mentioning.

To determine which video card you have:

  1. Press Windows + R, type “dxdiag” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
  2. Click the Display tab and you can see information about your video card under the Device section.

To update your video drivers:

You can try to If your computer power profile isn’t set to High performance, it could be throttling performance.

To access Power Options in Windows:

  1. Press Windows + R, type “powercfg.cpl” into the Run window, and then press Enter.
  2. Select the radio button next to the High performance power plan. You may need to click Show additional plans first.

Overheating can cause performance issues with any computer, and the symptoms can vary depending on the situation. Some common signs of overheating:

  • Unusual fan sounds
  • Blue screen
  • Constantly reboots or shuts down
  • Non-fan-based CPU overheating
  • High temperature

If you suspect your computer is overheating, you can try the troubleshooting at Intel Support to start.

Thank you so much for your patience and helping us during this launch.

This is about CPU temps, NOT GPU. My i9 also has this issue, it pegs at 100% usage at the main menu and while loading into my character in the server. This causes a major jump in temp on the CPU not the GPU. I play some very CPU intensive games like Star Citizen and have never seen temps like I am getting while playing this “full release” game.

So it appears that my cool was on its way out. It was the stock ibuypower liquid cooler. Replaced it with a MSI liquid cooler and temps are staying at a chilly 60c in the busiest settlements!

I have this very same issue, but unlike the OP my coolers are all working alright.

I managed to reduce CPU usage and temps DRASTICALLY by following this video: How to fix NEW WORLD high CPU / GPU temperature problem - YouTube

The only difference is that I changed the values just by 1%. Having both of them set to 99% seems to have fixed this.

I’m on a brand new i7 11700 (non-K).

Should I report this issue as a separate thread?
