High disk usage

  • What is your character name in New World:
    SeichooR

  • What server/world did you experience your issue on:
    Asgard

  • Describe the issue you are experiencing:
    High SSD usage/Lags/Frezzing

Okay, recently decided to download the game, before that managed to change a couple of disks and reinstall the Windows. But, for what the game eats up all the resources of my drive and literally he does overload 100%, and such a state lasts 30 minutes and then everything is fine, 0-1% used, all clear.

Maybe the game became too demanding and I should change the computer, and I’m going to do so in the near future
computer specs:
processor amd FX 8350
motherboard asus M5A97 R2.0
RAM DDR 3 1833 16gb
NVIDIA GTX1050 Ti 4gb graphics card
SSD Crucial BX500 (CT480BX500SSD1) 480gb

below are silly screenshots with the task manager and disk load, I think that it is enough to indicate the situation, the pictures are numbered and signed by the time of their creation

And so lasts from 20 to 30 minutes with freezes every time you enter the game. The whole problem is that the disk for some reason reads something for 20-30 minutes with a steady speed of 20mb/s to 100mb/s~. And at some point it stops the computer at all with a load of 100% for about 20 seconds. One to several times

And here is the log folder.

btw i have everything like this In-game settings: Everything is set to LOW. V-Sync turned OFF. Max FPS is uncapped. Dynamic resolution scaling is OFF. Emit telemetry data is OFF. The game’s resolution 1920x1080. Visible nameplates set to NO MORE than 15. Cap FPS in background is OFF

I faced weird issues while using 4GB cards, the memory usage was too high that with 8GB ram (DDR3) the game would freeze non-stop.

Now with 8GB card I can play with 8GB ram and even no page-file.

Probably is a mix of the slower memory + pagefile being used + 4GB card.

Recommend you to invest on a Ryzen 5600, and maybe a 8GB card. (I on the same boat with a i7 4790K, DDR3 2400MHZ 16GB. Went from a AMD 580 4GB to a 6600XT 8GB, performance went way better, but the CPU is still lag the hell out on wars, opr and everywhere there is a lot players.)

i see, yeah it’s weird… so I’m thinking of building a computer on a ryzen 7 5700x, ddr4 16gb 3200(+), rtx 3060~ would be enough for me.

Yeah, the game is poorly optimized and nothing really will make the game run perfectly. There’s a reason that a majority, not all, of people (PvP) run the game with all of the settings on LOW. The game doesn’t really handle a lot of people in the same vicinity too well… a shocker I know for an MMO LOLz. One can only cross their fingers that AGS will fit in some backend architecture/game engine improvements into their roadmap for the dwindling player base.

Some of the things that I’ve done that have helped me with overall game performance (obviously do your own research and come to your own decisions/conclusions) Also, please ignore if entirely irrelevant to your situation:

*Note - I myself have a 3090, AMD ryzen 9 5950X, with 64 GB of Memory.
**2nd Note - A lot of the kiddy twitch streamers that used to play the game made set-up videos that helped them so you can more than likely find a vid that can help you.
***3rd Note - There is also a memory leak issue that people have been experiencing in sessions pushing around 4hrs or so. It is recommended to restart BOTH steam and the game to address it.

  • In-game settings: Everything is set to LOW. V-Sync turned OFF. Max FPS is uncapped. Dynamic resolution scaling is OFF. Emit telemetry data is OFF. The game’s resolution matches your monitor’s resolution. Visible nameplates set to NO MORE than 15. Cap FPS in background is OFF.

  • Memory profiles: As you’ve found out the game is EXTREMELY memory intensive, see if you can adjust your PC’s memory profiles, usually done in BIOS. The recommended memory for new world is 16GB and if you have a bunch of other apps more specifically browsers open…you will find that memory is being eaten up quickly.

  • Firewall Exceptions: Make sure that BOTH the game and EasyAntiCheat have firewall exceptions through either windows’ own firewall via windows security or through your anit-virus software (norton/mcafee/etc…) that you may have for its firewall. This helped A LOT with the deync/rubberbanding/etc… Here’s another post discussing it Desync. THE POSSIBLE REASON?

  • Nividia Control Panel: Go in here and make sure settings match any respective in-game settings. Example v-sync is turned off. Sometimes, depending on their respective versions, they may or may not override each other at the wrong time. Every time nvidia updates its drivers I go back in here and make sure everything is the same and make any needed adjustments.

  • SSD: Having New World on SSD makes it run so much smoother for obvious reasons as opposed to disk. You should be able to go into steam and see whether or not New World is on the HDD or SSD. You should also be able to switch where your games get installed from within steam. SSD is the way to go for New World.

Есть второй диск, чтобы проверить встречается ли на нем такая проблема?

Your not alone, mine also chews at the SSD’s for 2-3 minutes when into the game and playing.

Both on a single 1 TB ssd, and 4*1tb ssd raid 0 on a card with nothing else installed on that drive.

Yeah, it will! I tryin to get a Ryzen 5500, will already do the job.

For information, there is a guy who have a 7950 Ryzen, and he plays with 120FPS in Towns. So we know that the problem with this game will always be the CPU…

My HD was dyin too, I’ve discovered that my board uses the bottom PCI-E for SSD m.2 when one is connected, so I was “bottlenecking it” by having a ethernet card… When I’ve changed it to the upper slots the M2 speed went up to the max of the board… But this don’t make miracle unfortunately, the CPU still the problem, a 6-core one, just like a Ryzen 5500,5600,5700 will do the trick.

I’ remember that I had a Intel i5 4500 and I cannot play Battlefield, but after getting the 4790K with 8 threads was fine… Now the same happened to NW

My game is installed on this high-speed m2 (2500…) only goes up to 800MB due to the motherboard being old. But as I log-on I get 30 FPS, after 10-15 seconds goes up to 60.
