High Latency & Stuttering Issues

good idea, i had my internet re-wired, and my computer looked over/upgraded, and it hasnt fixed the issues.

every day i have been sending an in game feedback report, every day for 21 days now. i hope other people are doing the same, we need to get some acknowledgement

Still 0 response from devs lmao
won’t play again unless they fixed it.

we feel that u are ignoring this big bug because solving a problem for 1000+ people is less important than other problems.

Yggdrasil US West. I have a service running at damninter.net in US West (Oregon) where my RTT is 32MS, but consistently in the game I see 70MS.

I have tried all 3 bandwidth settings 1G/1G Fiber connection here in Colorado with no changes in results. Cities are basically a lot of rubberbanding the more crowded the worse it is. Trying to enter a crafting station/trade station menu is almost impossible, either I get kicked out on open, kicked out on search, or kicked out after a few seconds.

Last night for example I tried crafting some extra satisfying meals, about 20, and I could never get it done. Either kicked out of menu, crafting failed message, or kicked out the second I click craft.

That was everfall. Up north in eden grove outposts where maybe a dozen people in the town you could do things and using the trading station.

Watching the RTT counter it would spike from 70MS to 300-400MS entering any trading station menu or similar issues when the rubber banding starts happening. Even if I let it settle down after a few seconds the above mentioned problems still happen. It’s not a matter of doing things too fast, it just punts you every few seconds from those stations.

Since cities are sanctuaries why not disable special abilities on entering town? A lot of people just randomly click those buttons on accident anyways doing normal stuff.

I guess once my world is back up (unplanned maintenance?) I’ll fire up wireshark and see if there’s other things going on.

I will say this - if you’re having time skew issues like I’ve been reading about you’re going to have a cascading effect at several levels especially where any encryption comes into play. Does no matter if it’s cloud or not, in large systems timing can wreck you quickly with as much as 30-60 seconds of drift. If the physical servers are drifting this is an issue, and if you can dedicate the hosts I’d see about adding rubidium clock addon cards to handle the drift issues. I’ve seen the generic local clocks built onto motherboards drift seconds every minute. Also ensure your timing process nice levels are higher than the game processes. Those are getting hammered constantly and if your nice level for timing processes is lower or the same as the game then it could get delayed in processing as well which can also contribute.

Make 100% sure it’s not the OS/Hardware before tweaking the game.

Xibalba US EAST Server.

I’m having the same issue of getting bombarded from an Amazon server with info like clockwork every 60 seconds. I have 2 screenshots showing the culprit during the spike and afterwards. I looked up the address for it and it looks like an Amazon server on the West Coast, even though I am on USEAST. It shows me sending info to an East Coast Server and receiving from the West Coast server. I do not know if that’s part of the issue or not. But the problem is getting worse and makes it almost impossible to do anything other than a DPS. The address name is s3-us-west-2-r-w.amazonaws.com (it will show up as a link to click on but I’m just posting the name shown on Task Manager) My Input Latency usually sits around 70 to 80ms but with the spike it jumps to 400ms+ basically refreshing anything I’m doing.

I’ve been wiresharking in Everfall and nothing’s getting dropped packet
wise even when I’m bouncing all around. So it must be server side.

a guy in the other topic found the problem, apparently nw server flood our connection with useless data with no reason and that saturate our connection for 2\3 secs and thats explain the 2\3k spike lag.

Yea I just can’t play anymore, after 400-500 hours and every patch making the game worse, I just can’t play.

Moved on to battlefield 2042

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Latency in high player count, combat situations. This includes but is not limited to Wars, Outpost Rush, Elite farming locations (Mines, Myrk, Reekwater, etc), and random world PvP encounters
  • World ID: Themiscyra
  • Bandwidth settings: High. Hardwired connection with current download speeds of 578 Mbps and Upload of 42 Mbps.

If this helps, I run the game with a mix of medium and high graphics settings, despite having a PC that can run everything at max settings.

  • CPU - Intel Core i9-9900K 8-Core 3.6 GHz
  • RAM - 32.0 GB - T-FORCE XCALIBUR RGB 32GB (4 x 8GB) 4000MHz
  • GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti - ASUS ROG STRIX
  • SSD - Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB

Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Moving, Talking to NPC’s, Chopping Wood, Pretty Much Anything.

World ID: Ferri

Bandwidth settings: Low / Med / High (I’ve tried them all and found same results)

I guess I’ll quit again until this is dealt with. If there is a game to come back to … heh.

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: War 50vs50/invasion/fights in elite zones
  • World ID: Bengodi
  • Bandwidth settings: High

LAG extremo en guerras, Servidor Bengodi - YouTube ⇐ This is a video of the last war we had. Every person that participated in this war can confirm the same issue.

That one is interesting. I doubt they’d have an asymmetric routing issue at least in my case. However do you use any storage services like backblaze, dropbox etc? Those use AWS as their backend so that could be the spike you saw.

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Trading post, Crafting, walking, breathing in the game… Literally anything this piece of trash game is absolutely unplayable.
  • World ID: City of Brass
  • Bandwidth settings: High, Medium, Low nothing makes a difference.

These latency spikes have been happening for weeks; yet, it has been entirely ignored up until this point.

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Normal game activities gathering selling walking dungeons etc.
  • World ID: EU central (Hades)
  • Bandwidth settings: Medium - 8Mbps dedicated to game only, wired connection

Notes : I had windows 11 two weeks ago, and the game was unplayable while before that on the same operating system it was running smooth, it started suddenly .

So I made a fresh installation of Windows 10 and it was running smooth for a week, and after that same thing started to happen, it became laggy stuttery and unplayable.

so i am thinking maybe the game has some kind of cashe piling up and that makes it read from it slowely. i am not very experienced in such things, but the game is insanely lagy .

Hello, I linked my account and stuff just to give this insight to be honest.

The stuttering of the game is absolutely because of graphics not network.

1- When you disable Vsync and limit the game to 30 fps. The stuttering shows up a lot less.

2- If you turn off adaptive resolution. the stuttering problem goes away even further.

3- The stuttering level does not change, no matter, if every graphics setting is low or very high.

4- When stuttering starts, if you stop doing anything and block. It goes away much more faster than you keep trying to do stuff. Sometimes instantly goes away.

In short, my experience tells me that, there is a conflict with the graphics coding. It somehow makes the GPU do something, while at the same time, make it do exactly the opposite. This is the observation I get from reading performance stats on my rig. GPU all of a sudden seems to get into a calculation loop, and heat up, draw more power, and then cause game to stutter with introducing a bottleneck to the rest of the system.

When you stop any actions, this is why you almost instantly solve the stuttering, as you let the system cooldown.

Now as a Senior Systems Engineer (Managing Power Systems and AIX OS for 7/24 Banking), instead of me(!) telling you(!) all these, your teams should be actually checking their code, and running stress tests and pinpoint where exactly this calculation loop(strain) on the GPU takes place, and change that function for the good of us all.

Good Luck,

So I can confirm that anytime I go into an area where a harvest bot is actively running my RTT spikes up into the 300-400 range. If I stay in an area with them my RTT returns to around 100. Take what you will from that.

:beers:

doesnt change anything for me, i still stutter every 2-3 seconds as my ping spikes up and cycles back down to 50

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen:
    Outpost Rush.:
My Ping is arround 30-35ms, i have no spikes, but other Players are Teleporting arround.
When i shoot with my Musket on someone my Shots dont connect.
I shoot at other Players 10m away into the middle of the Body and my Shot goes throught them.
I fight in Close Combat with Rapier and from one Moment to an other the other Player Teleports from his location to an other.
I miss my shot because I’m too far ahead and my shot misses the target completely, but I still hit the player.
    Its most noticable in OPR.
In open World i get LAG DETECTED message. but i only get this message once or twice a day
Sometimes i cant open Supply Chests or something else.
Mostly the described things occur when there are many players around me.
When there are more than about 30 players in my environment, it becomes quite extreme.
For example, when we make a ā€œZergrunā€ through the elite areas.

Crafting:
On Crafting Station i get kicked out of the Crafting Window.
Same in ah.
Running through Cities with manny other Players i cant see them, after some Seconds they get loadet and i see them, without Armor, some seconds later they are wearing Armor.
Running throught City with many players sometimes i teleport to my new location insted of running like in the open world

Correction;

After upgrading to latest Nvidia Graphics driver, GPU no longer causes any issue.

But there is this weird network connectivity.

Why would a EU server opens a connection to US-West. Because every time this session starts sending and receiving data, the stutter occurs.
