High Latency & Stuttering Issues

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen:
  1. Gathring Delays after animation finish.
  2. rubberbanding specially when dodging while stamina is unusable and/or dodge canceling
  3. crafting bulk of items gets diabled halfway through.
  4. using evade from bow has a delay of one second atleast.

Describe what you were doing when it started to happen:
This happens to me mostly during combat starting since update 1.0.4

Medium

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Opening storages, opening trading posts, in the process of bulk crafting weapons/armor/jewelry, elite runs with 4 or more other people, getting swarmed by numerous monsters

  • Bandwidth settings: Low
  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Interacting with anything, trying to craft/trade, walking, casting spells. Quite literally anything.
  • World ID: Phaeacia

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: This bug started after the release of update 1.0.4. Since this update I have had issues with the trading post, harvesting, crafting stations and combat. A very detailed thread about the issue with many others having the issue is below.
  • World ID: Yggdrasil

  • Bandwidth settings: Tried all of them with no effect on the issue, usually play on medium though.

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Nothing specific, but I encounter more ms than it actually is while testing online. Also, while fighting the ping/delay is higher, outpost is unplayable for me pretty much.
  • World ID: Aquila
  • Bandwidth settings: High

My ms is fine on websites that measure your ping, I go as low as 7ms, done another one: check

While connecting to the servers sometimes i get 40ms.

But when I’m actually in-game, idling/fighting, it doesnt go under 65ms and goes up to around 100ms.

Outpost rush is the most laggy sack of trash.

I’m guessing it’s because of the aoe causing server lag like it does in wars tho right?

Shocking.

  • World ID: Utopia
  • Bandwidth settings: High (Also tried low and medium)

DxDiag
In-game logs(Game Build)

Video Record

For me, this issue has existed since the closed beta and happens almost every day.
I’ve tried absolutely every solution I could find on the internet, still stutters.

Btw, It’s getting worse after 1.0.5. (server transfer on the same day).

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Playing New World at launch. Figured it was just from the amount of people trying to all play til it stayed for over a month.

  • World ID: Scheria

  • Bandwidth settings: I’ve tried low, medium, and high. Makes zero difference in this game

EDIT: I remembered my computer came with some turbo Lan cfos speed app thing and I’ve been trying to tinker with throttling my new world and lowering its priority. So far I’ve managed to change my spikes from every 15 to 30 seconds to every couple of minutes

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Anything, everything, regardless of location
** World ID:* Izar (EU central)
** Bandwidth settings:* Low, Medium, High (doesn’t make a difference)

This happens after every patch for some hours and goes away. For the past 2 days it is a constant round teh clock problem. Server population is low. Im on fibre optic internet.

It is important to note that I am not having stuttering or low FPS, FPS is constant 60, any input action is delayed by 2 to 4 seconds. auction house closes by itself / resets , crafting window resets by itself. Enemy mobs can appear in one spot, then reappear somewhere meters away from where they were. This is network latency lag, not graphic or video performance related whatsoever.

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen:
Nightly occurrence, usually between 7:30pm - 12:00am EST. Occasionally a few spikes during the day. Has been happening since launch day, no issue with this in the alpha and betas. The very very first time it happened I recalled to Monarch Bluffs and when I loaded in input latency was at 4000ms and was going up to 8k, persisting the rest of the night, ever since then It has been a nightly thing (probably a coincidence, but just incase).

Doing: For me it started after 1.0.4 went live. Gathering constantly gets cancelled, running while holding a direction key keeps rubber-banding (though using auto-run [=] it doesn’t occur). Crafting gets cancelled to the point where it isn’t worth the effort to select items for a recipe because it’ll time out and cancel in the meantime. Auction house is the same. Can’t take the time to read quest text as the client will cancel the displayed quest box without returning to movement mode, meaning you’re stuck not being able to do anything except use the ā€˜unstuck’ button from the menu.
I don’t know if the system logs unstuck or not but if it does you can check for the last heap for Silkillion and they’ll all be for the same thing.

World: Geatland then transferred to Zara, still happening.

Bandwith: High. I use wifi (not going to make a difference if I use wifi inside my house as I’m on Australian NBN fixed wireless for my broadband internet anyways. I did a test using speedtest.net last night and found that I lose 8-10Mbps download speed while New World is running though upload speed sometimes increases.
Example from tonight:

Control
Ping 55ms DL 19.23Mbps UL 3.68Mbps

With New World running
Ping 50ms DL 8.68Mbps UL 4.58bps

[Edit: Thank you to the dev team for looking into this - we were getting worried that we were being overlooked for a while there]

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: virtually anything, gathering, PvE, PvP, climbing, walking around. All started after 1.0.5 patch
  • World ID:Amenti
  • Bandwidth settings:High

Also noticed because of this hits do not register, bow uses arrows but does not shoot them.
Using fiber with 500mbps connection, all other apps work fine and speedtests shown minimal ping and good results.

Same as above. A GPU driver update has somewhat made it a bit better, but still feel the stagger sometimes.
Also my brother has a long freeze and he has to force close the game to continue playing. GPU driver update did not help in his case.

I think more than a few folks here are mistaking FPS (graphic) issue with the Networking Lag (high latency / ping). they are two different issues. For example i have 3,000 milliseconds ping, whilst FPS remains constant 60 fps.

First off, it doesn’t seem like ā€˜high latency’ as the network graphs show constant 45-55ms with no spikes when the issues start happening. Everything seems to be delayed: floating dmg numbers, hp bar UI update, taunt activations, perks activations, damage registered vs damage telegraphed.

It doesn’t happen all the time, maybe each 3rd activation of above (be it perk, damage, taunt etc.)

  • Describe what you were doing when it started to happen: Activating Berserk perk using Hatchet, activating shield block using Sword & Shield (I imagine other weapons are broken aswell but that’s what I’m using as a tank), taunting a mob, attacking a mob, taking damage from mob.
  • World ID: Tir Na Nog

Separate thread I made with videos showing the issue: Skills and perks activations delays

Edit: PTR version doesn’t have this problem at all.

Became worse after 1.0.5. Was much more stable before that. PvP is awful, opponent is not where you see him, skill delay, shattered animation
