Everytime im open or store items in storage i got “LAG DETECTED” and downloading amount of data to my computer until my internet off.
would be great if the game didnt ddos their own player base.

I couldn’t agree more! I won’t be spending any money anywhere on Amazon until this issue is fixed and I will certainly be very vocal about how terrible this game and customer service has been. To be clear, it’s not about not being able to play. It’s about not being communicated to by the dev’s on an issue that DIRECTLY affects people being able to play. This should be priority one!

In the topic I posted above there is the best theory I came across so far. It’s a long read but I can grant its worth your time. This issue, in the very vast majority of cases, its not related to our connection. It will not be acknowledged considering how many days we have been left without a bit of communication but we must bump this topic till the game shuts down or the issue gets fixed.
Just reposting it here as this seems a pretty official thread for it. I’ve italicised out the stuff that’s perhaps not so relevant for this thread.
Just to give you some insight, this is the error I routinely get on the TP (item at another trade post) and it happens likely for the same reason (high input latency)
*Every single thing you interact with in this game has a connection between client and the server. That includes using the TP, looting a node, opening a chest, interacting with crafting stations and storage. If that connection is somehow broken, the server “kicks” your client and cancels the transaction/connection “feed”. *
This is what you’re seeing. I’ll bet that at some point before this error came up you will have seen the TP “bang” and reload quickly. This is your client getting kicked/disconnected from the transaction. It still allows you to browse and use the TP UI and even filter/look at all the items but when you go to buy? Nuh uh. You’re not connected, access denied. You need to open the TP again and beat the clock before it boots you again. Chances are, you’ll be fine and it’ll work normally after restarting it.
For me?
No such luck.
This issue pervades for me across ALL of those things I listed above. And it can kick my client as frequently as INSTANTANEOUSLY as I open whatever UI window it is I need to use. When crafting, you can see this happen when your character bizarrely turns around in the background. He’s done. He’s finished crafting and you’re disconnected and the second you try to craft the UI will close and you’ll be booted from the whole interraction.
For me? This is a common occurence. I can sometimes need to reopen the craft station about 50 times (not an exaggeration) before I can race to craft my items before it kicks me off like this.
Storage shows this as a complete “wipe” of the storage contents. It’s still there, you’re just disconnected. So trying to move anything will result in a transaction error. I think storage attempt to check your connection constantly though, because this issue can sometimes manifest by the items blinking on and off (and I’ll bet more people see this frequently when servers are laggy).
When looting a node or chest, this “disconnect” happens frequently for me, cancelling the circle. For chests, this means I have to try again from the start, every time. This can be incredibly frustrating.
Why is this happening?
Well, the “when” is the interesting part. I didn’t see any of this until 1.0.3, the patch that was released specifically to attempt to remove all of those client cheats players were using (freezing the client by moving the window to remain invincible being one of them). My guess is that AGS applied some basic, very aggressive time outs to their netcode that literally go “NO YOU DON’T” the moment your client hits any level of high input latency. In order to prevent cheats abusing these things, they just cut them off from the transaction entirely.
I’m sure it works too. But what they didn’t realise (and still haven’t even acknowledged every time I write an essay like this one, and this isn’t the first) is that this basic netcode is seeing my mobile connection spike and immediately kicking my client off all transaction types. This is something that is now, for me, an everyday thing. It’s constant. The only time it happens less or close to not at all, is when the server is dead. No other players.
My connection may be mobile but it is in no way “bad”. It’s 4G constant and that gets me 40-100mbit down and a solid 10-14mb up. This is better than most landline options in the UK.
But I’m guessing the mobile connection is more prone to packet loss. And this is what I think NW’s netcode is looking for. And it’s way, way too aggressive. Enough that it’ll mildly inconvenience most of you with these occasional glitches. But for me, it’s a constant, game ruining thing that hinders everything I do constantly. Even just running about. Glitch. Glitch. Glitch. Every single time my input latency jumps above 100ms (which it can do frequently on the EU AGS server, despite my ping to UK servers on speedtest being a constant, very solid and reliable 30-40ms).
So, in short… It’s caused by their dodgy netcode. And it’s been this way since 1.0.3. And I’ve given up hoping they’ll actually address it. For some people, you’ll be OK just reopening the window. But perhaps the stuff they’ve done recently has made it worse for everyone.
Thanks Ydiss, I’m a damn forum noob and couldn’t properly quote your post but only point to the topic
i had these constant issues as you are explaining, every few seconds my latency in game was spiking up, and every time it spiked is when my character would rubber band, close crafting stations, not let me use the trading post, not let me loot chests, even reset my breath so i could not drown.
i experienced this for 38 days straight, i created 7 forum threads, spoke to customer service 4 times, never got any response or reply on the forums.
i figured out i had some packet loss and spoke with my ISP, they cleared it up and i have been bug free now for 2 weeks
So I also “Had” this problem prety bad a few weeks back. I still do a little bit at peak times in the US around 3pm-11pm but its not “Game Breaking” anymore.
I have 4 pcs. 3 amds and 1 nvidea 2080… The 2080 has always been the worse by far…
I did have 4glte internet with T-mobil…
I live in a rural area and it is by far the best at 25/10mbs down/up and 40ms…
It started out of nowhere with the update a few weeks back booting me from all menus really and unable to establish connection. I could bypass and log in with my vpn on occasion.
I verified integrity on steam a dozen times re-downloaded checked cables blah blah… pfft… to much… I followed the forums posts on what others had… most had good connections…
I got T-mobil to send me a 5g gateway… 128/15mbs …
It stopped… Plain and simple… Not completly… It has said unable a few times… hit referesh… and it connects… I use to be able to get through crafting 5 items at a time… I can craft 150… and it not do it now… Did it last night… It still does it some times… So I think it was a combination of the two… If anything…
So if you have slowdowns on your spd during peak times… or during weather…
This was not the first game this had done this to me…
Neverwinter mmo… all the time…
ESO… use to kick me from Cyrodil daily at 5pm…
these issues started for me after the 1.04 update where they fixed an exploit where people were using lag switches and messing with their connections to make themselves unable to take any damage
Thats when it started for most of us… Do you have nvidia or amd? and what kind of internet connection?
Blocking with VG, Rapier, well any weapon.
Repost with Rapier make massive studders
Storage, Trading Post, and Trades Tables to start making anything
Eden
Low
nvidia, and fibre
I think this was the post that they were taking in info… goodluck
this is the post they made to gather info, and then they striked my forum account because i made a comment on how they have ignored us for 34 days, and removed this post for over a week, so we were unable to post on it, and never replied to any comments. there has been 0 acknowledgment even though the player base has told them what the issue is lol
Well I’m just a player too… and I found the posts about doing the Verify integrity of steam and other work arounds for this issue weeks ago… Also this post has been up since Nov. 10th… asking how/why/where from each player… There is also one about them getting nvidia and amd to update their drivers specifically for this game. Is that 0 response?
Yes, thanks for both your posts.
I think it’s due to packet loss.
I have ordered a landline internet installation (due end of the month) to hopefully resolve this but I’m not sure it is because I am currently living out in the stix and it’ll be maximum 9Mbit download (that’s right, 9Mbit…)
But if it has less packet loss, or the route to the server in the EU is better, then perhaps I’ll get fewer glitches. Perhaps performance will be a little more laggy (so higher overall latency) but I can live with that. This isn’t a twitch game anyway.
But… and this is the thing that irritates me the most about all of this… NONE of this happpened prior to 1.03/1.04. In beta, the game ran flawlessly. After launch, I had some issues but resolved them myself (I was using the wifi transmitter on my phone, which was very lossy, so switched to USB tether which instantly improved things).
But then 1.03 hit and all of this was a thing. And I’m just going to say this:
Lag in games is fine. What isn’t fine is if all of the fundamental transactions of the game boot you off or entirely fail altogether due to lag. I don’t mind some rubber banding to a certain degree, if it’s not all the time. I definitely do NOT mind some delays (so if I hit CRAFT and it takes a few seconds longer to complete, I’m all good with that).
What I hate is that it seems AGS changed their netcode to aggressively disable several features the moment input latency spikes. For me, this is unacceptable. Lag in an online game should not result in ALL of its features criticall failing. Not to this degree, at any rate.
PS I play other games on this mobile connection and suffer zero lag, zero issues and perfectly smooth performance. It’s 2021, after all. A mobile connection that can sustain over 60Mbit down and 11Mbit up should be capable of handling almost all tasks without any issues.
Performance is a widespread, persistent, issue with multiple variables in my experience.
After weeks of complaining and trying different fixes and optimizations (power, priority, steam overlay, dynamic resolution scaling) that all had some impact I finally came up against the fact that my processor was being maxed out. There are many reports of excessive CPU usage on well capable processers, but in my case I was on an old i5 and 1050 Ti that definitely needed an upgrade. A grundle of money later (not just to play New World) on a Ryzen 7 and RTX 3060 the game still feels like crap more than it doesn’t.
Testing is complicated by the fact that the combat system is so klunky and inconsistent. It’s impossible to tell what’s meant to be, what’s a bug, and what’s poor performance.
I’ve given up until there’s some sign that fixing performance and combat is a priority. Currently, they seem most interested in bloating with more content that just keeps the game in a constantly broken cycle.
I feel like I got my $40 worth leveling and grinding some PvP. I’m thankful I never spent a penny in the cash shop, didn’t waste days on end grinding chests, more days on end maxing crafting skills, or any time or coin on housing.
We’ve been had folks, whether intentionally or not, we’ve been had.
P.S. - I’ve troubleshot my end the best I can. I’m not providing a company I paid for a product that should work any of my time to troubleshoot the product I paid for that should work.
1.Doing the same thing as usual, chest runs and harvesting, ive had a good 90 ping from east coast to west my entire 900 hours and the past 4 days my ping is unplayable from 6-11 around 150-180 ping
2.World ID: Celadon
3. All three options did nothing, same issue ping is totally fine on all my other games
i really enjoy this game and i hope they really try to fix this or the winter update tommorow helps becuase its killing my drive to play at the moment.
same here man maybe one day we can get help
The last patch for me has made a bad situation, unbearable. The latency that spikes up to 400-500.
It has been bad enough that for the last 3 months many of us in my company has had to tolerate 120-150ms. For the 5% remaining and playing the game, the game has become almost unplayable.
World ID: El Dorado.
Bandwith Setting : High
Connection: Verizon Fios Fiber
Speeds based on last speed test: 873/555
@AGS the issue has been ongoing for months, but has become much much worse after last weeks update.
