Highly Suspect (why is this permitted?)

you can drag mobs into them to get them killed

The botting and exploits in this game are incredibly awful. I have always thought that sub-to-play games were better, because I think it alleviates a lot of issues (including steady financial support for the game), but I don’t think it would eliminate bots. Games have gotten pretty close by altering the way items are obtained in games, though.

That said, PLEASE don’t assume someone who is fishing is a bot. I am sick of fishing and having some pr*ck think they are big-brain and try to kill me with exploitable mob-mechanics. I’m not obligated to acknowledge your existence on-demand, and no, non-response doesn’t mean I’m a bot.

What would stop bots? Simplez…STOP BUYING GOLD. BAN all those buying gold. Sorted.

I can tell you with some certainty that that one fisherman Sux.

The difference between you and I recognizing bots and AI recognizing bots is greater than you imagine. I’d wager its not “permitted” so much as it’s harder than you imagine to catch

Fortys may or may not get you into the club, but whatever happens next ultimately determines what will be for any given industry.

“Smart” fish bots go to place where you cant do that (like this one hotspot where you need to swim to get on a rock from where you then fish). You cant aggro mobs on them :sob:

Before AGS removed the gold coins from chest (Support says it’s a bug but the deafening silence since then seems to imply otherwise), a fish bot could yeald from gold coins alone between 10k to 20k a day. So yes, they could screw an already shaky economy easily

yeah for that you need mass reports

Sadly when I asked people on server to come check on bots and report or just trust me and report, half of the answers were along the lines that I was the kind of guy who would have denounced his neighbourg for being jews during WW2… (well this was almost a direct quote of one of the answers I got)
Like it’s ok to bot but not ok to tell on bots…

those kinds of answers get insta report from me

They were reported but not sure by a lot of people as the chan was half on the “report the bot” side the otherhalf on the “boting is less offensive than reporting boting” side (which was said in a much more colorful way and from then on the discussion escalated quickly as you can imagine)

The last thing I want to do is give them more money at this point.

After you fish for 30 minutes you are auto flagged for pvp. May not stop them but at least we could have the pleasure of putting a hatchet in their face every once in a while.

Not sure about this as to unflag you would need to go to the town and based on the location of hotspots would be a pita. However, spawn 2 mobs 5 levels under your level wherever you are, regular mobs not elite, and I dont think many bots would be able to cope with that

probably banning bots is #1 that any company should care, because:

  1. if they ban them, people would not get upset about situation and not leave game
  2. banning bots means already 80$ because bots would buy new accounts

If a subscription is lets say 15 bucks, you need 3 months to equal the 40 bucks for buying the game and a bot will probably get banned in a month
So it would be worse for us if we switched to subscription only.

Maybe make a town board that actually requests higher tier fish for higher xp and territory standing? So that the higher tier fish are not more worthless than a large or medium salmon imo? Market wise people are looking for the easiest fish to catch and fish oil and firm fish filet. Most other town boards scale with your trade skill however I have 200 fishing and town board still requests the basic fishing materials.

im 200% with you on that, monthly sub is the only way to go on mmorpgs wich want to be bigger and free of alot of toxicity.

Maybe. The problem is anything that just requires more time to get through statistical chance favors bots heavily.

So while I actually really like that idea I’m worried it would just exacerbate the problem by creating value on the market for them for bots to take advantage of
