everyone is angry… everyone
I bought it before the reduction. It was around 960 gold unless EF was taken over and the tax increased…then it was around 1260 gold.
I pretty much had to “play” (more like ‘work’) every day to get enough to pay the weekly tax.
((Pre-emptive: Good for you, so happy you make 1k a day. Congratulations.))
Seems odd that the only way to control a town is through PVP and expect those players not to get the best gear.
Its really really really bad design and a complete lack of understanding of what would happen.
Good thing AGS doesn’t run the world, they made this game so goddamn corrupt.
Short text, but still enough to figure out you are a moron and not a good person.
And I bet im just as good at the game as you are, im just not a moron like you that just think, yeah i cant do sjit about anything anyway, and then not even trying…
If i see some thing i dont like, i forking say i dont like it, im not a little Cow that just go where ever some one leads me.
Nope i do not, but i do know in the country I live in, we get a lot for our taxes, yeah it is a huge % of our income, but again we get a lot.
And i have said for years, the US system is broken AF, you can legally “bribe” people, yeah i know you call it Lobbying, but it is Bribing, and they can call it what ever they want, rest of the world just sees it for what it is.
And i do feel with you guys, the way the Gov treats people is just not right
And as of now, the server I play on, only 1 Area got a 4% tax on Houses, it was at 8% but they did put it down to 4% today, every one else is 10%.
I’m boycotting the houses. IDGAF, the small bonuses trophies add are not life changing. I’m not grinding to pay a PVP company 800/week for my little t3 house. Nah fam… these devs seem so clueless honestly.
But you knew it was only a temporary reduction yet jumped feet first into upgrading every house to max like “omg this is epic”. Did you not have the foresight to precheck what the tax would be?
If you were “talking” to me, well i already bought the houses a few weeks after launch, when the Coins were way easier to get (and nope no exploit or anything), farmed a lot of mats, and people were buying like crazy.
And then the taxes were actually not bad, think 4-6%, so i bought the houses.
But over time the system got corrupted, and people were Hey this is easy coins, and one town set the tax to 20%, then another, and soon every one was at 20%.
And then the No one needs what you sell came, every one were farming, every one undercut every one, and the income started to fall, but the taxes stayed.
So i took a “little” break, saw no point in playing, just to pay the taxes, sure i still had a good chunk of Coins, but just watching it go down just so i could keep my houses, yeah no forking way.
At a point i found out that the taxes was 2% and i started playing again, but now once more 10% across the board, exept one town, yeah well whats the point, i do not want to “work” for anyone, by that i am “talking” about the people that owns the towns i got houses in.
They do NOTHING for anyone, sure they go to war and invasions, but is that for us, or for them self? Yeah im 100% sure its for them self, they upgrade what they find use full, and then withdraw the coins to buy stuff they want, yeah so no i do not like this system at all, just lock the treasure department, and make it so that they cant withdraw anything at all, the taxes is for upkeep of the town, the keep and NOTHING else.
Would you like to live in a Country where the people in the Government could just take money (well some do that i know), that you payed in taxes, and then buy houses and what not for them self? So why is the system then like this in the game, i know it looked nice on paper, but it should had been knows, that it would not lead to some thing great.

And yeah im typing a lot, but hey im Retired i got a lot of free time on my hands…
I’d wager the vast majority of people in the game did not know this for the simple fact that the vast majority normally does not come to the forums or read patch notes. I’d wager that Amazon got a ton of in game bug reports the last two days on tax costs by a horde of very surprised people.
Revert The Taxes back, I am guilds are not budging on the extreme Tax rate and I am not paying. This makes the game so much less enjoyable
Well said imo and I m sure the majority thinks similarly.
I cant remember a comment of mods or even devs here in the forum to this issue. Many companies, which made millions out of AGS mistake and 90% tax refund, behave like aristocrats. Well, they dont have palasts, but they have loads of legendary stuff with perfect perks, because they dont care to spend our taxes.
An argument of the rich is, the “lower class” can use the infrastructure of the towns. But crafters dont earn money until they are high lvl or even 200. Therefore crafters not only spend enormous sums of money for the mats, but also using stations or buying materials. We pay so much tax before we can earn a cent by selling high lvl crafted items (unless it is junk). The rich have multiple income though. They get taxes (companies) x2, can easily craft with best conditions and sell legendary stuff, house taxes and they can afford (former) expensive expeditions to get best loot also.
What do devs and/or mods think about this system? Did AGS recognize, whats going on within the community? Do they even bother our problems? Or do they insist arguing, this system is good and no changes are needed or intended? What is the point keeping a product as it is, although the consumers are more than unhappy with it? Taxes are one of the most polarizing issues in NW. There are 5%, who reap benefits and 95% suffer. Well balanced? Fair chances? Well designed?
It’s a freaking game! The discusion about taxes and poverty really shouldn’t happend here ever. Change my mind.
10% is abusive, after 2 month paying 300$ then now jumping to 1300g per houses, it jumps to 3000Gold per week, 12k per month to pay our rent taxes. This is abusive.
Also when we think of the toxic companies that’s own territories that keep to 10%. (morrow)
This will unfortunately make quit many players that find the game was already a hard grind, not everyone can make 12k per month to pay houses just for trophy and storage.
So far I noticed the game giving us a gift with the right hand and taking a part from it with the left hand.
With that said I hope Amazon gaming will read this tread and will action something to keep more players in the game.
Regards
I asked in Global chat yesterday, if any of the territory owners could explain why they were taking the 10%, only one send me a DM, he said:
We are taking the max because the other towns are, and we have Ebonscale Reach, the town is not well populated, but the upkeep is the same as if we had Windsward.
We had a longer talk… And today i logged in to see this in Ebonscale Reach:

I then looked at the map, for the other areas, Windsward, Everfall, Cutlass, Mourningdale, they all went down to 2.5% Housing Taxes also, the rest are between 5%-10%, i have not see this before, they have always while i have been on the server, charged max what they could get.
Was it really all it took for one Faction to change the taxes, for the other to go along, like in the beginning all it took was one Faction to charge the 20%, and every one just followed?
I do not hope it will be short living.
What all this is showing is how toxic house tax is and how much the majority of people hate this system…its driving lots of people away.
There has been nothing good for the majority that has come from this territory control system. It has been obvious since before the game went live. AGS is just stuck on stupid trying to hold onto it as a core feature.
Territory control should be just for show, bragging rights for the PvPers. In no way should it give them any power over the majority of players. Taxes and azoth costs should be set prices across the board and all the coin goes to some NPCs. All crafting stations set to max with no chance of change from invasion’s.
Once that is done AGS can just focus on making actual fun content to play, instead of content that is done out of greed or to avoid loss of crafting station levels. Maybe besides just individual reward for wining wars and invasions there could be some cosmetic rewards that can add to the towns look, but that should be it.
As someone had said earlier I enjoy the crafting side to this game.before the change I could do my running and pay my taxes. With this change I will have to devote a day to farming and selling to pay taxes. Would be nice to be able to play the game the way I like. That being said I enjoy the houses I have and the benefits they give to me. My company owned 2 towns before mergers so I have been on both sides of the fence. I can say my company used the gold for town upgrades only as far as I could tell. To me maybe the town boards could be an effective way to give the controlling company gold while at the same time also paying the person doing the quests instead of the taxes. Since companies dont tend to use people outside their company for wars and invasions they could earn gold that way for themselves and a equal amount would go into the treasury. Another thought would be allowing the community to do town boards in great cleave, sm and such to upgrade the crafting stations there chosen by npc? Eatherway I’m stuck with this new reality unless something changes as I still enjoy playing the game.
good for you but it wouldn’t work for me since the companies on my server dont even want to talk about it
Taxes must be lower cause 3 house is needed by game design!
Hehe, well my taxes are due in one of the towns, and they are back at 10% did not last many days, and they just made it to 10% the day i need to pay tax lol.

Those are the towns i got houses in. (only 1 of them i need to pay within 1 day)
So do i want to continue playing, or do i just take a break again hmm.
I just think, when you buy a house, if the tax is 4% that day, you should then pay 4% for ever, no matter if the taxes go down or up, you bought the house at that time, there for agreed that 4% was fine…
