Sounds like taxes in real life.
Guy A promises to lower taxes and help out the little guy. Guy A gets into Office. Little guy gets screwed anyway. Way to go Amazon, you’ve recreated American politics.
yeah but i have 52% decrease to my taxes. 20% from faction and 32% from standing, not including first home purchase. with taxes only going up 4% from what the previous faction had it at, and me gaining decrease of house tax by 20%, that i never had before… should it have jumped up over 500g?
I feel like the calculations aren’t being shown correctly by UI or the house-tax system is bugged.
All depends on what everything was set at. 50% of 2 is still only 1. 4% of 100 is 4. So depending on what it was set at, and what it is set at now, it could still potentially increase.
I’m not dedicated enough to crunch the numbers and solve the word problem you’ve laid out for us so I can’t say if that is in fact the situation. Only that it is possible.
okay so at 10% territory tax, as owned by previous faction i was paying 1300 something. I had 30% decreased house-tax at the time. If the town tax is increase to 14.5%, going up 4.5%, and I gain and additional 20% + 2% (i got extra on standing) decrease on home-taxes for my faction owning it, then my taxes should be lowered 17.5% from that 1300, not raised by 38%.
unless im wrong and there’s something im missing, i honestly hope to be corrected so my brain wont scramble anymore. but if im right, this should be fixed asap.
That’s not of percentages work.
The increase in tax is a 45% increase, since 14.5 is 145% of 10.
So a measly 20% discount (and the little +2point of % on territory standing discount) is not going to cut it.
I made quick sheet so if you can read my handwriting you can have more details on that.!
My guess is that the faction control discount is applied on top of the territory standing discount since it would be weird to see percentages additionned with a different name/source.
By the way I assumed your house value is 15000g, which seemed the most logical, but tell me if it’s otherwise.
okay i see what i missed. i wasn’t thinking correctly. time to put myself to bed. zZzz
Oh and lastly it seems there’s a penalty for paying your taxes late, either that or some discounts not working when paying late.
If your taxes are due on Wednesday and you pay them on Thursday, you’re in for quite the sum.
I’m just going to not pay taxes at this point because they put them way up! Hopefully others on my server do the same and they realise the error of their ways.
Then don’t pay until your faction takes it back.
My faction essentially fell apart. They just gave up one day and now we own no territories. The issue will all be moot soon since I plan to transfer to another server anyway. Preferably a server with 3 solid factions (with capable leaders) that don’t fall apart like a house of cards when the fighting gets real.
This is one reason I love our faction, they do the opposite. The other two factions have steep taxes (Syndicate have maxed out all taxes in their last remaining settlement) but ours almost all set them low. They’ve liberated regions and immediately cut taxes to minimum.
Makes me proud to have chosen them

You Covenant per chance?
i have a house tax of 2k gold rn
What gets me is that I paid my Brightwood house tax a few days ago which was owned by my faction then a war took place last night and the company in our faction lost and I immediately got another bill which goes to the new company/faction that took the territory.
I didn’t have any buffs in that towns house so I ain’t paying the bill until we get it back.
I wish the tax cards from leveling the town rep would be a bit beefier too.
The tax system is currently bugged.
is there a way we can confirm this? maybe we can get AGS to disable the taxing system until it’s fixed?
ps thank you for your reply. I was suspicious that it may be bugged out
I pulled this from the 1.0.3 patch notes.
" Fixed a housing UI issue. The UI will now correctly shows that property taxes are subject to the full price of the home, and not impacted by the first time home buyer discount."*
So apparently the GUI shows a graphic-art of the property-tax numbers being crossed out, but somehow it’s a bug. Even though UI is smooth and looks like it was supposed to be that way.
Time to keep hard at farming for that gold. lol.
Yeah, clearly it was supposed to reduce the taxes but they’ve decided to simply declare bugs as intended behavior instead of fixing them
