The taxation system would work if it was half as low again (maxed out at 5%) and they allowed people to move if a company was ripping them off. Even put in a tiered cost to move that decreases as the tax rate increases ie 1 weeks rent at the lowest level of tax and 1 days rent at the highest.
As it is, the good feeling you get when you buy a house is dulled by the realisation that you’ll need to gring a couple hours every week just to maintain it.
3 houses = 6 hrs of grind ecery week = unhappy customers no longer logging on.
And to think it was once capped at 20% and had to be paid every 5 days. How could AGS get such an integral part of the game so badly wrong?
They didn’t actually lower it. In fact, it’s higher.
At the start of the game there was a bug:
Property Tax was not being applied to companies correctly and players were being charged more.
They tried fixing it, and screwed up the compensation that companies got.
They tried fixing it, and messed up the amount that players were charged.
so, they decided to just cut down the taxes until they could fix it.
Because there was no explanation into WHY they were doing what they were doing and why, and companies saw the percentage range change from 5% max to 2% max, and not understanding the system, all companies set their tax rate to 2% max. Because no one knew what was going on.
Yesterday, they not only returned it all on, but the dev’s didn’t explain WHY IN-GAME, didn’t give companies messaging IN-GAME, and now all of the companies see a 10% max automatically and are unsure what to change it to.
Servers who are fully controlled by 1 mega-company operating across all three factions are seeing 10% controlled across the map. thus creating an extremely toxic environment for anyone on that server.
bottom line… 10% is stupid. having to pay 5,000 - 20,000 coins up front for a house is stupid, if we’re having to spend 1.5K WEEKLY in "taxes. This isn’t a tax, it’s a RENT.
Drop the upfront costs, refund people who paid for housing, and call it a “Property Rent”
Or reduce the max percentage to 3%
Or adjust the TOS to allow people to be toxic AF and let the servers die in a flaming heap of fire.
I mean if you bought a tier 4 house with 90% off taxes and expected it to stay that cheap and for territory owners not to screw you over, don’t blame AGS
I won’t as I knew. But for the majority of casuals, who don’t visit the forums and bought after the reduction - AGS Comms are poor at best - and they are too blame for that.
Oh - and the PTR feedback on this fell short - the reaction is much worse. A pity no-one suggest a multitude of other sensible option - oh wait, they did
If I wanted to complain about taxes and shitty house prices, I’d just live my life.
I thought games were meant to be fun, where you don’t have to worry about such annoyances, but seems like developers think imitating the boring parts of our real life is somehow enjoyable.
The problem may be that you don’t work in real life and are living off the backs of other people.
Most people work in real life during the day times hours haven’t been able to log in to make changes to the taxes on housing, all set to the maximum amount because of free tax break given out by AGS, when able to log in they will adjust the taxes to lower rate or not and lose housing in their area.
I can see this in real life as well, some blue states raised local and state taxes too high, when a ‘SALT’ cap was lower make sure the rich pay their fair share it was a shock to people to have to pay all of their fair share in taxes. Now that AGS has removed the ‘SALT’ deduction you see the tax problem just like those Blue states.
Yeah… I don’t believe in that theory. I’d bet good money that most of the leaders of town owning companies are absolutely not people working 40+ hours a week. They are far more likely the people playing this game like >> it << was a 40+ hour job.
What they should have done was lock the tax at 2% and then allow adjustment based on the income of territories. So if they pull, say, over 500k a week from the territory, they’re locked at a 2% housing tax. If they pull less, then they can adjust it up to 5%.
This would incentivize people crafting and selling where they owned houses to keep the taxes low, and incentivize the owners to keep the crafting stations funded.
This is the point where you don’t pay your tax, if you’re owning a town that isn’t WW or EF lower your tax down to peanuts on property and something else and get people to relocate to your towns because it’s way more affordable
And don’t pay your house tax and let everyone know in global like I do

Thanks @Zelme - I think changes to this aspect of the game would resolve a lot of issues. There are too many ways for companies to be abusive and toxic to players not in their company if they are territory owners.
This is what a company in Valhalla wants us to pay with full 10%. Nope not gonna pay it. I don’t even care about the perks I have there. I will just use storage in other locations lol
