How do I raise Expertise?

I am curious, what is a good way to raise above 500? I cant get it above there. Is it making the gypsum or is it loot drops?

Both can raise your expertise. Mob drops and chest drops also have a chance to bump your expertise.

Your best bet to raie your expertise quickly is to make sure you get in on the daily world tours/salmon runs and do as many laz and gen as you can.

There are also ways to solo farm that you can Google, but not sure I would recommend that, except you might could arm it up to 550ish.

Thank you. I had a 510 hatchet drop but when I equipped it my expertise did not move for that weapon. Am I misunderstanding how it works?

There is a difference between gear rating and gear score (GS). Picking up a hatchet with a 510 rating has no effect on GS. In application, the equipment can be no higher than an average with the same equipment’s GS. So if your hatchet GS is 500, the effective rating of a 510 hatchet is 505. That increases with GS, so the key is to raise GS.

Many ways to do this, I find the most focused way is using Gypsum casts obtained from gypsum since you pick the specific gear to upgrade the GS.

Sources for gypsum orb to turn into gypsum casts:

Obsidian Gypsum - 3 per day: Drops from level 60+ named creatures.

Sapphire Gypsum - 2 per day: Defeating the final bosses of The Lazarus Instrumentality and Garden of Genesis.

Ruby Gypsum - 2 per day: Outpost Rush completion

Emerald Gypsum - 1 per day: Aptitude leveling reward. Awarded upon completing a level of Trade Skill Aptitude. You can obtain Emerald Gypsum by completing 1/3 of an Aptitude level. Every full Aptitude level will give you 3 gypsum.

Citrine Gypsum - 1 per day: Arena completion

Amethyst Gypsum - 7 per day: Major/minor breach completion. Ebonscale Reach, Reekwater, or Shattered Mountain

Topaz Gypsum - 10 per day: Drops from any level 55+ creatures 25% of the time while under the effect of a daily craftable potion, Topaz Gypsum Attunement Potion.

Diamond Gypsum - 3 per day: Rewarded from “special event” activities such as opening presents in the winter event. Level 60 juniper berries.

With the upcoming update, I would recommend 2 OPRs as the easiest way to create a gypsum orb.
