How do you determine price to sell things you found that haven't been listed on the market

So on my server, I was the first person to find [Chef’s Secret Techniques] and [Quartermaster’s Notes]

Since I was the first person to find it, how would I go about determining the selling price?
I have a second character on a different server and I tried checking that servers market to get a sense of pricing but they didn’t have either of them listed there as well.

Items are worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Just make a guess or list it for what you want to get for it. If it times out, list it at a lower price or in a busier trade center.

Pricing varies at each trade center, on each server.

Is this really a question, lol?

I’ll try and be a little helpful here, and give you a quick MMO market 101 (also basic supply/demand):

If it’s the very first item listed, and you know they are rare (I do hope you realize those are rare drops):

  • Put them on the market for the lowest timeframe possible
  • Price them on the high end of what you’d consider a ‘rip-off’ (based on this post alone I know you’re not even close to the richest on your server). Also, announce once or twice that said item might be found on the market
  • If the item doesn’t sell in the time frame listed, repost it for a small decrease in price, still for the lowest possible timeframe.
  • Rinse and repeat until sold.

Unfortunately, without knowing your server and it’s economy, we cannot suggest a specific price for said items.

THATS THE PROBLEM IN THIS SYSTEM! They need to put a “sell to system” thingy so people can orient themself on the price of those items, i played another game thats free to play and a exactly same game with trade post etc. They made a fast sell system to the game, so players could get money going, instantly sell to system without paying taxes, or try to sell to players for higher price if people need it, for example some items here are so worthless nobody will buy it, so you could sell em to the system, but nooooo amazon cant think of that

Unfortunately, that would disavow, or negate, their intended purpose. They are trying to build a “player driven economy”, so adding vendors would introduce a price bias to the equation that they’re trying to avoid.

The current issue with the economy is the bot/gold sellers. That is currently destroying the market value of items more than any price indicative merchant would.

Bro look at the system of albion online, its also player driven , but you need a system like this, i made a whole post about this right now its called SOLUTION TO SAFE THE ECONOMY

I’d look at the price of similar quality/tier items and make a best guess.

For crafted items, think of the cost of mats, plus the time/cost/effort of levelling your skill and factor these in.

For drops, you can really only go on rarity and tier if there is no historical pricing

Go high then drop if it does not sell.

I’m not talking about saving the economy. I’m just referring to the specific structure of the economy they have stated they want.

If you introduce an in-game vendor, you will then set a ‘floor’ price for every item. The problem with that, is you then have a ‘safe’ method of making money, regardless of if your item is wanted or not by the community.

If, for instance, you introduce said vendor, all I would have to do is go to Windsward and dunk my head into the stream for 30 min collecting fresh water and have a ‘easy’ place to unload it for quick/free cash. Or I could sell all the damn hysop that most people end up chucking from their bags because the market doesn’t want it. And I’m sure you can see how this would be exploited even further by bots/gold sellers that are already making a mockery of the current economy.

THATS WHAT WE NEED RIGHT NOW! A safe method of making money, ********* are those people here all that dumb to not understand this game is legit a ****** copy of albion online? All this game needs a set floor to make money right now, albion online has the exact same system like this and nobody exploits it and is not exploitable, and a safe way is playing pvp, i can legit stay ***** afk in town and just perma queue up for outpost to make money all day, is the same ***. Im so done with the stupid community of this game with people who never ever played mmos with player driven economy in their life, i literally see chat spammed with people askin the same questions every day, im so done, people selling stuff cheaper and cheaper just to undercut, so dumb till it gets all the way to 0.01, i could literally break the market by buying EVERY SINGLE 0.01 sold item on the trade post.

Insults aside:

  • This game isn’t a copy of Albion Online, or we’d all be playing Albion Online, wouldn’t we?
  • Perma-queueing for OpR does seem to be their current ‘money influx’ to the market, which I agree isn’t an ideal, or even good system
  • How exactly could you break the market by buying every 0.01 item on the trade post? In a player driven economy (such as what they currently have in place), it’s the players that set the price. If, as you say, you buy up all the 0.01 items, you can only then sell them back for 0.01. You’re not fast enough to buy up every item and then replace it at a profit before someone else pops the item back on for 0.01 or even 0.02. You’d only have made it possible for someone else to possibly profit.

But I understand your frustration. The system is “broken”. But a vendor is not the solution THEY (maybe you are) are looking for.

List them for 30k and see what happens. If they don’t sell slowly lower the price.
