We have no idea of the infrastructure in place, the size of the db whether is distributed or otherwise, if it ties into other regions db’s, we have no idea how it all ties together, we dont know if a roll back can or is taking place, nobody outside AGS can claim to give you numbers because there is nothing to base those assumptions on.
It’ll take as long as it takes, IF it is even happening.
I personally suspect, given the time its taken so far, a bunch of tired dev’s/techies are probably trawling through a lot of logs and user accounts manually trying to fix stuff thats broken.
Thats 230 ish EU servers holding multiple world sets and god knows how many users on each assuming it even works like that. We dont know if they are virtualised or physical, how its managed (or not as the case appears to be). We have no clue.
Although I am curious to understand that, but these days, as in the old days the best security is through obfuscation and I suspect AGS would like to keep it that way.
Ich bin auch durch mit NW, schade es hätte so ein schönes Spiel werden können.
Ist zwar Schade nach 503 Std. Spielzeit, aber was solls. Das war auch das letzte Game was ich mir von AGS gekauft habe, bzw kaufen werde.
You know nothing about their hardware in use, network infrastructure or software design. yet you claim to have done restores bigger than New Worlds data, how much do they have? We dont even know if traditional backup mechanisms are being used or perhaps its just snapshots, we have no clue.
Prey tell, what environment are we talking about here? is it physical, virtual?, what networking hardware is used? what db is used does it even need to be quiesced?, is it replicated etc?, what storage medium and types are they using? How is it managed…
You cant answer one single bit of that so pulling 40 mins out of the air is scary.
You know, pulling numbers on that is something an IT Professional can do.
Or would you talk back to a car mechanic that tells you that replacing a lamp could be done within an hout while your mechanic needs 10 hours+.?!
It’s EU Servers. So no one cares about a holiday in an unimportant border country like the US. The US are not the Centre of the world. Surprising news, i know.
