How does property tax work in New World?

Monthly, Weekly? It’s not clear, also what happens when you are away from the game for a while can you sell the house? or do you return impoverished? By how much can different factions raise the tax? Do you get the opportunity to change house if another faction takes the town?

Questions like this have led me to avoid owning a house so far in New World.

Property taxes in New World are due weekly.

Taxes are not automatically levied. Specific things are disabled when they are not paid, like recalling to the house, being allowed to continue decorating, and having your trophy buffs work.
You are able to sell your house at any point for 50% of the price you paid currently.

If you returned to the game after a large absence, nothing should be changed in your personal wallet as taxes are a manual process.

These days no one really changes the tax percentage anymore. I don’t have the numbers up right now, but the differences are no longer that extreme.

You can decide to not pay your taxes if you don’t like the owner of the town. You could also choose to sell your house for 50% of its value, but there’s no other option to “change” your house.

Thanks, that covers that for me. I think I might go and buy one.

I would recommend it! I’ve had lots of fun decorating my house and the fast travel benefits are quite nice for me.

As a reference, at 1% tax (the highest possible rate right now), I’m paying 140.95 (now that is with some town discounts), but the actual tax is quite low.

Obviously feel free to ask any other questions as well

Nice! I’ve been levelling furnishing to make instruments so I have some furniture stored that I like the look off, although most just got recycled and I’ve collected some too.

Thanks for your help.
