How does such a small update break so much

Well, the patch notes said:

" * Additional server and client performance optimizations."

well-there-it-is (1)

I’m on Delos too, it’s always been laggy for me.

This update from today is 10x worse than before it and the fact they said it’s better and more optimized in the notes :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull: :skull:

Better for some, worse for others. Unfortunately they cannot optimize for every set up, so they tend to optimize in a better for most scenario. Which sometimes means a little less for others :c

Thats a bad mentality for any optimization…

I have very good pc, very fast gigabit net. There is no excuse from ags for this piss poor sever performance especially coming from AWS one of the leading infrastructures…

See i’m in the opposite camp, mine has been in the 90’s since launch to the US-East region, and every time they do optimization mine gets a little better. now it kind of hangs in the 65-75 area. No doubt tweaking the AWS area optimizations.

I’m not sure, but judging by other games, Delos is probably physically located in Australia, and they have shit internet backbone. I’m in Asia, with uber wide fiber, but I have to suffer some outback server operated by a bunch of kangaroos. Oh well. I get a slightly better ping from US West, so I’ve got that going for me.

Mine actually got better, for once. I’ve always had a decent connection (200mbps/ping in the 60s) just a little unstable/spikes every once in a while. Seems like it’s more stable with whatever they did.

Too bad I’m moving this weekend.
Hopefully it’s as good or better where I’m moving to.

wait-what-gif

I really don’t mean to be rude, but where are you located? I just want to know where is “200 mbps” considered a “decent connection”

would love to have 200 mpbs, i am living in a big city in germany and only get 50 mbps max.

I’m really sorry

A 200 MB symmetric is better than a 500 Mb asymmetric. See the upper and lower B? Those are important.

Everywhere.

Perhaps. All I want is a server in East Asia. I’m on 1Gps and I have to either use Australia or US West, both giving me high latency. I’m flagged PvP all the time, but I treat other PvP players as skull NPCs to run away from, because there is no way I can fight with these pings.

There’s plenty of people with faster connections. If you look at some of the old desync threads, some people posted ridiculous speed tests. But your question was already answered:

Arcadia has the fastest connection available in the swamps of louisiana. At a blazing 50MB.

And that’s with me begging and pleading with the DSL company to give me more bandwidth. They actually only offer 5, 10 and 15 to residents in my area. And after calling every company that is nearby and offering to pay whatever it took to get service from them i got a shady call from some corporate lady asking if they gave me 50MB for the same price i was paying if i would be satisfied.

I took the deal of course, and it works fine. But several miles north they have gigabit and i really want that T_T

Yea dude 200mbps as we all know is absolutely terrible, websites take 10 minutes to load and the best quality you can watch youtube videos in is only 8k :sob::sob: you need to have at least 10gbps internet or else your internet sucks

I have those MS in this game all the time. This is AGS’s way of saying “We want a similar experience for everyone” haha. And I’m from Chile and I play in Brazil.

You guys are complaining about latency, while boasting about the bandwidth of your connection.
You know those things are unrelated, right?
It’s like saying “That cargo ship can fit a thousand containers!!! Why does it take a week to get my packages from Amazon?!?!”
You can have a billion Gbps connection, but if you are in Mars, the latency will still be crap.

Latency has more to do with the route the game traffic takes from your PC to the server and back, than your hired bandwith. The game actually downloads/uploads very little amount of data, so your 200 Mbps / 2 Gbps / 42 Pbps connection goes almost unused.

If they moved the server to a place further away from you, or where your traffic needs to take more hops to reach, or if something happened in between you and the NW servers (like some ISPs changing connections from wired to satellite, or some maintenance, or whatever), then your latency and round-trip-time (RTT on the game stats) are going to increase regardless of the server and client optimizations they have made.

To know whether it’s them moving their server, or the connection between you two, go make a speedtest against some speedtest server in Australia. If you get lower latency than with NW, I guess it’s NW server the one who moved to some other country or city.
If you get the same crappy latency, then it’s the connection between you and Australia, or something like that.

In order to fix the projectiles not working on the ground they had to make an entire new layer to the whole map.

Thats why its so bad.

It is a bandaid fix.

Welcome to average ping for most players.
You’re probably experiencing more missed shots than usual?
