Huh?
The one that lacks ability is the one crying lol.
Fact is that this game really isn’t high skill based. Once you get muscle memory for dodging most abilities, it’s insanely simple.
Me, I run musket/rapier as my primary build. Easily around 1900+ hours with it, of my 2200ish total play time.
Rapier, is not comparable to something like GA/WH/Hatchet/Spear. It lacks damage. Do I get kills with it? Absolutely…but as more of a finisher when someone’s low health, normally other light users.
Musket is not very compatible with other melee weapons. Can kind of make spear work, but most competent players know how to avoid the abilities. If you find someone repeatedly dying to a spear, it’s because they’re bad or out of stamina.
Before you cry about musket, I’m not the type to sit at a distance and just plink. Do I do it? Of course, but I’ll als9 be one of the people chasing healers around up close, as well.
Suggesting, or even thinking, that medium is viable with musket, is pure lack of ability on your part.
Me, in light, full min max…near BIS gear, may hit around 1200ish with non crits on medium, and under 1k on heavys. The bread and butter is head shots, even then…not significantly higher damage on PROPERLY geared mediums, and good players will instantly start avoiding them. Don’t run in straight lines and actually make an effort to time your shift key, and you’ll live. (Love seeing the players in voidbent, these are the easiest to take out, because you know they’re heavily undergeared and typically newer).
Head shots, when someone is on top of you, is near impossible. Do occasionally get to create enough distance to land a shot or 2, before they get back ontop of me. Always body shots though, because you only get a secondish to get a shot off, then you’re stuck trying to reload for a couple seconds (this is hopefully improved with the July patch, not at home to test this, some of us choose to work instead of crying on the forums).
Now, if I’m in medium, you lose significant movement and 30% damage. Those 1200ish shots you pulled before, are now like 800ish. Attacking heavys? Forget about it, completely impossible. The underpowered rapier, now becomes a pool noodle. A minor inconvenience to be hit by it, and laughable at the same time.
If range players really bother you that bad, this is what you do. Go grab sword and shield, and gear up in the worst heavy gear you own. Slot in a few thrust gems and a few malachites. Go find a dex user, and shut them down. For even more insult, get a life staff. Literally, dex can do NOTHING to you.
Dex users are good for killing light users and harrassing healers. If you die to a dex user, in the open, that is because of your lack of ability.
