How to create "new content", the AGS way

We constantly see updates that follow this exact formula:
(Existing Content) + (FOMO/RNG Rewards) + (New System) = New Content

For Example:

(PVP activities) + (RNG Reward Track) + (PVP Track Levels) = PVP Track
(Regular Dungeons) + (RNG Drops) + (Umbral Shards) = Mutations
(Practically the entire game) + (Unique Skin) + (Seasonal High Scores) = Leaderboards
(Practically the entire game) + (Seasonal Rewards) + (Tasks) = Season Pass
(Open World PVE) + (RNG Drops or Unique Rewards) + (Seasonal Shop/token system) = Holiday Event

Personally I’m tired of seeing these updates and they don’t generate nearly as much hype as they used to.

The game needs more depth, not more layers on top of what already exists. It’s just not a good model for keeping the game fresh and exciting.

People may disagree because they like the frequent rewards, but I’d much rather have deeper reasons to play the game specific to my play style rather than participating in content solely for mediocre rewards and artificial leveling.

Game needs all:

  • polished old content
  • ballance patches
  • new content
  • new stuff on top of old content
  • bug fixes

Issue is that even amazon is limited when it comes to resources.

Nah they changed it.

(Season pass) + (recylced content) + (heavily requested feature) = pay more money
