All the consistent bitching and whining gums up the works from an efficiency standpoint. It’s like there’s nothing but a bunch of kids complaining all the time. Constructive critical feedback requires a distinct lack of emotive response. The feedback becomes practically useless when the devs have to wade through all the emo teenage angst.
Example: Bad
Elemental dogs arent dropping lootz and I hate the devs for it. they suck and don’t know to run a game!
Useful
Elemental dogs are no longer skinable. This is reducing the overall availability of motes and other items needed to progress meaningfully with Arcana, Jewecrafting, and other crafting skills. It may be potentially driving up the cost of those items on the market place, resulting in reducing player accessibility to higher end content.
See - easy…
Some of these posts seem to also be attempting to achieve some sort of accountability with the AGS team through the forum posts. That’s just not how that works. You need to have two parties engaging in the conversation directly and consistently for accountability to be realistic. The people from AGS that are engaging on the forum don’t have the ability to make any meaningful changes that would result in standard accountability practices. It’s just a bunch of empty words on both sides in a pitiful attempt to “make feelings better.” Instead, report your bug in the appropriate forum and then STFU…
Lastly, the ridiculous and tedious posts that start with “everyone”, “we”, or whatever other variations are simply extremist and ludicrous. Stahhhp it.
This is what happens when the developers actions give the impression that they are not listening to community feedback.
People stop trying to give feedback and just amplify each other’s frustrations between each other, because they’re powerless to do anything about it and have dumped a significant amount of time into a game.
Even your post is just a frustrated rant, you already know people don’t care and will not take any of this advice.
It’s almost like AGS created an illusory PTR to seek player feedback, received overwhelmingly negative feedback on said PTR patch notes, and ignored the feedback and still rolled out the patch which is resulting in even more players leaving the game.
Im sure your heart is in the right place, but this dumpster fire of a game might be past saving now.
I’ll try and briefly detail an example.
I made a post a couple of days ago about not getting loot from items sold in the market, including a screen shot.
An AGS ermployee emailed me to ask for some files to help devs find/fix issue, except there seems to be no way to attach small text files to a post in these forums, so he asked me to contact amazon customer services so that THEY could give me an email address to send them.
Which i did. It took a while to get through via online chat and eventually the person gave me an email address to send the files.
Of course, i got a bounce email back saying the email address didn’t accept incoming emails.
I emailed the AGS employee back about four times now over space of maybe 4 days and have not even had the courtesy of a reply, let alone an update on fixing it.
While the game has potential, every area of the game, from forums, to bans, to patches to bizarro design decisions are just completely amateur in the extreme.
The only solution i can think of is to shut the game down for maybe 18 months, wipe the servers and start again.
But without any of the current management involved.
Would you trust amazon to launch a space rocket when they can’t even get the basics of a game even vaguely correct? Can a space rocket be shut down mid flight for a 6 hour maintenance during peak time?
Yea this post, its not about the quality of the gameplay. Its about the quality of the feedback. The game has a ton of things wrong with it. Lots of ridiculous bugs, and some really strange decisions I don’t agree with.
They got a lot of stuff right too though. There’s a framework there that could be great…
Part of me thinks, if only we gave better feedback it would get better. The realistic part of me says, why the hell should that be on the player? Right?!
Oh yea… its a partnership.
Right now, as a player, I struggle to trust the developers are going to take a better direction. It feels like they’ve got some people up top that haven’t played an mmo. Thats frustrating. But you know who has? This guy… you… and several others. Could we use that influence a little more positively?
Point of this rant is that we aren’t being good partners. That’s partly AGS’s fault, but mostly on us. The games definently going to fail if we don’t step up. If we don’t play it, if we don’t invest in it. Boom its gone. The players were why WoW lasted so long, the devs had nothing to do with it.
What would it look like if you had a thousand players stating the same message instead of the garbage we are seeing right now? Would it change? I think so, cause even with all the half assed feedback they are making changes. We just aren’t being clear enough and they may not be fully listening BECAUSE of the abuse. Would you?
I don’t really trust amazon as a company because of the actions of their owner. Thats on me and my perceptions though. Not on the AGS team and devs for this game. They are just like you and me and want to do a good job. No one wakes up and randomly decides to be shit at their jobs. Except maybe entitled asshats… haven’t seen any response from the devs that suggest that kind of behavior yet.
