I’ve always been obsessed with market places, and spend a decent amount of time there trading, and flipping. But as much as I’m loving new worlds, I dread using the Market place, and here’s why.
#1 You don’t see how much money you’ll be receiving if you sell your items, you just see how much you’ll get taxed. (e.g. If I sell 240 blueberries for $0.35, I’d have to bust out a calculator to see what that equals too… which makes absolutely no sense. The market should do the basic math for you on how much you’re selling these items for, and how much your net profit would be after the fees.
#2 There’s no search button when you’re trying to sell, and if you have hundreds of items to seep through, good luck selling a few.
#3 Every time you sell an item in your long list of items, the list refreshes and goes back to the top of the list, and again without a search button, you’ll just have to scroll all the way back down for the next item on the list. which makes the entire process frustrating.
#4 I have no idea what items just sold when I log in. We NEED a transaction history, showing the most recent sales, and how much must received in that transaction… and No the “Completed trades” tab doesn’t cut it, I can’t even tell what’s happening in there. Some of the items are stuff I took out, some are stuff that didn’t sell, and some are that sold, and the only way to tell which is which is if there’s a number under the “Sold” row… which doesn’t tell me if there’s still any on the market. We need a clean separate UI for items sold, how many, for how much, and how many left on the market to be sold.
#5 It would be great to know if you’ve been outbid… Looking at the market, it’s near impossible to know which item is yours… the natural thing to do is to highlight the item you have put up. Your sell and buy order.
These have just been the few things I’ve remember on the top of my head, In my opinion the Market in this game has been the less fleshed out thing about it. Which hopefully won’t stay that way.
Thanks for listening to my TED Talk.
