How to make solo PVP play possible in NW

  1. No class should be able to indefinitely tank another class
    -Healers and Tanks may/should take longer to kill but eventually due to mana or stamina loss they should die to an aggressively offensive opponent (assuming near equal gear/GS)
  2. No class should do higher than approx. .25% of dmg than any other class.
    -With increase dmg output an increase of stamina or mana loss should occur to balance the fight
  3. Stuns, roots, etc., need to balanced (if not removed entirely) so that MULTIPLE offensive attacks can not be stacked/performed on an immobilized player. One free hit while immobilized is sufficient.

If by “solo PvP” we mean fighting oneself, I think there’s quite enough of that already.

so you’d take the game from being chess, to a game of checkers thats even lamer than the normal rules and allows no kings, all for “reasons” none of which are stated and based on the assumption that solo PVP is not currently possible (when it is)

perhaps you should consider the 2nd and 3rd order effects of the thing you’re proposing before hitting the post button.

Solo PvP isn’t possible when some classes can’t kill others.

No one was beating around the bush, perhaps you didn’t see where I stated Tanks and Healers should take a bit longer to defeat. Problem is that under the current system they are immortal 1 vs 1 or even 1 vs 2 in some cases.

Some classes are not for killing. That’s how classes work.

technically in this game they are build archetypes since we don’t have explicit classes.

If every healer can tank and be a dps, theres no reason to be anything else, which makes the game samey and boring and unfun. Asymmetrical build archetypes give us variety and complexity, which adds difficulty and supports coordinated teamwork.

You aren’t playing a single player game, so basing the game around Solos being able to do whatever they want and still be competitive is a nonstarter. You are expected to interact with the game world and it’s players to succeed, thats the MMO part of MMORPG.

The game should supports both play styles, sometimes I wish to group play and some times I wish to solo play. The game is capable of being more dynamic than you imply and theres a large player base that enjoys solo gameplay in NW. The game allows players to easily morph classes, there’s no reason not to try different classes, but if one or two classes are made dominant in PvP or PVE then there’d actually be less reason to play different classes. <<<That truth makes your argument invalid IMHO.

Well, if 1v2 then you have my attention… it that case both healer/tank should feel high pressure and, if cc’ed correctly, they should die pretty quick… that’s why no one plays 1v1 tanks in PvP… no one can’t kill you but you can’t kill anyone!!!

And that’s by design… both tanks and healers gave up a lot of their dps in order to have the ability to perform their jobs!!!

Imagine playing as “glass canon” dps that gave up all their defenses in order to be able to delete players… but for whatever reason it just takes a bit longer to delete someone :rofl:

Yeah I think the problem is also high vs low GS, and BiS weapons.

They’re significantly better than others in that class.

I would have thought it’s fairly obvious to make PvP slightly more fair unless you just want many to rage quit after getting one or two shot.

@Caraota–Currently Healers and Tanks can avoid death indefinitely vs multiple attackers of equal GS, they do not die fast at all vs 2 or 3.

I would have thought healers do the same amount of healing as damage output.

So 2 people would do the required damage when hitting.

Think the problem is also IFrame, ability, IFrame ability means you can’t his them for 4 attacks. And they get 2 heals there.

You shoul be able to hit through all abilities, it’s not a dodge.

Your chess analogy is invalid. A chess match is based on a very balanced playing field, once the fight/match begins both players have an equal opportunity to win the game. Current PVP status is the opposite, when a fight begins some classes are PVP superior to others, if not immortal.

Best way – 1v1v1 instanced arenas with time limit.

If you think people are immortal in solo pvp in this game, you’re just bad at pvp. Sorry.

Everyone dies to something, and player skill is usually that something.

Chess is not balanced at the individual piece level. Queens are amazing and Pawns are garbage by comparison.

You insist on trying to make the game into a single player thing where you can do whatever you want without a team to help you, and this is leading you into the inability to correctly see that you are a single piece and not an entire army.

You assume that fairness comes from everyone being able to do the same thing as anyone else, yet you are ignoring player agency entirely in the rest of your thinking.

The fairness is in your ability to chose a build and how to use it.

If you can’t use a build correctly, or chose one that does what you intend for it to do, thats a you problem. Everything should not have to be a jack of all trades build because you make bad choices and want to be “equal” with everyone else without putting in the work or making the right choices.

Gutting everyone else’s choice because you make bad ones isn’t fair no matter how much you want to win.

@Greysmoke Then yes, 3v1 that’s a problem… 2v1? healer shouldn’t die (unless cc’ed) but also shouldn’t make a stand and challenge those two (That’s when healer should have a resource/mana problem)

Dude this game is so free with mana, at least where healers are concerned. You can fight a healer for 20min and they’re be at like 90% mana. With no pots either haha.
