I want to preface this by saying that there are some things that are incredibly important in an MMO, and one of those (arguably the most important) is the integrity of in game systems and achievements. Gold and item dupes have existed in New World since launch, and many people knew about and abused them. This compromises the integrity of the game completely and renders everyone’s achievements and time invested pointless. It has to be fixed. I want to discuss ways to accomplish this.
First off, they’re not wiping/releasing new servers. It would cause a lot of people to quit and destroy their player base.
But the fact remains that something needs to be done about the sheer amount of duped items and gold that have rendered any character progression essentially meaningless. Players’ investment into their characters is worth nothing at the moment because the economy is full of duped wealth. This requires rendering this duped, accumulated wealth pointless. Unfortunately, and there’s simply no way of getting around this, people who legitimately achieved what they’ve achieved will be indirectly hurt. There’s no avoiding it, and those people should be mad that this could be allowed to happen.
Here is what should be considered:
- Max gear score should be raised beyond 600 to combat those who crafted full GS 600 equipment with duped materials
- Trade skill max levels should be increased to combat those who leveled their crafting and refining to max via duped materials
- New end game materials should be introduced, making currently existing duped end game material stockpiles worthless
- Gold needs one of two things: either it needs to be massively inflated so that current duped stockpiles are worthless; or it all needs deleted (accompanied by a flat payout to all players)
I would like to hear other ideas from players.
