I left around 6-7 months ago due to the state of the game ( Congratulations 
). And it’s so much worse. FPS, lag, dancing queue position, janky audio bugs etc. Any returning players having a better time than me?

I actually am having a great time, yeah. My queue position occasionally drops from 2 to 3, but I never have to wait longer than a minute or two to get in. Haven’t had any frame issues, and light lag sometimes but my internet also isn’t the best and I always have Youtube open at the side. The only audio bug I’ve had is that sometimes when I play music a song won’t load in. It usually works if I change areas and try again though. I’ve been playing it pretty often for the past threeish weeks after I took about a year off.
