Imagine having a Hub server that has a big city, where all players can go there from all servers, and do trading, maybe even queue for arena and OPR, and instead of faction, u will have your server as a faction, the possibilities u can have, and the server vs server events.
Why would we wanna go 15 year backwards?
Inter server trading could be a thing. I can think of like, no downsides now that post-merges almost all servers have a stable (albeit way inflated) economy.
