So I’ve pushed my Gear Score to 595+ on all pieces except jewelry and Rapier but it seems like that doesn’t matter. It was recently fixed that you could go over 589 watermark cap but my hypothetsis is that 591 is the cap now.
I’ve farmed many, many elites and a few dungeons, and I often get lvl 581 items off of 65+ elites. Thus, by the +/- 10 rule, it seems like 591 is the cap.
I don’t have much else to say, just wanted the community to know because it’s rather disappointing that we again spend so much time hunting for upgrades when all we did is go up to watermark.
That’s not the point of what I’m saying. I’ve gotten many 600 gear drops (especially given that you can get green 600s) but it doesn’t watermark you to 600. You will still get lvl 581 items from 65+ mobs no matter how high you’ve gotten the slot gear score to.
You got a pic of a green 600? Of course you can’t Watermark to 600 otherwise it would all be 590-600 drops and that’s silly. Not sure the point of this thread.
They stated they fixed 591 watermark not dropping higher gs
It’s an incredibly confusing system that should be explained in-game. I shouldn’t have to read a dev blog on the forums about how a key game system works.
This post is confusing. Are you complaining about the fact that you can find items of a lower gear score than the highest possible for you?
The HVM system is explicitly described as an „upper limit“. It determines the highest score that can possibly drop for you. There is nothing about it to prevent lower drops than that.
It was described as a range. When we were stuck at 589, you would get 579-591 from 64-66 lvl mobs.
Now they fixed the 589 cap but what we all interpreted as reach 600 and roll between 590 and 600 is actually roll between 581 and 600 because the cap is actually 591.
Edit: I’d like to clarify that the post that identified the bug with 589 describes the range in code.
"Rank": 590,
"ExceedMax": 10,
"FloorDistance":10,
So if watermark went to 600, you should only get 590s from 65+ mobs.
Sure watermark to 600 and create a ecosystems of only legendary items since the drop rate is too high. Also they made a big blogpost about the watermark system. If you want consistant 600 drops do dungeon bosses
I’ve received everything from 591 to 600. The issue is that the watermark is 591. So you will constantly get 581s as the floor limit to your watermark even if you get something higher than 591.
the way i understood it is : 590 is the HWM you can get. Previously it was bugged at 589 which is +2 to GS drops allowing you to hit 591 which is beyond the max. The bug was fixed to allow 590 gear to drop and when you hit this HWM a new +10max is allowed to drops giving you up to 600GS. You will still get lower than 590 once you hit it.
That could be possible but that’s why I said it is also not explained well.
So in a game with 600 GS and a watermark system that you progress through, you’re capped at 590 with a +/- 10 chance on rolls. Most people would assume you could watermark to 600 and then your pool would be limited to 590-600, if you were farming high enough elites.
Once you hit 60 the HWM system starts you at 500 and as you fight level 60+ critters / open chests your HWM will increase as higher GS drop / chest (crafted, bought don’t count). At lower levels you can see +5 above HWM drop and this decreases the higher up you get. The system was bugged before, so if you hit 589 and only 591 would drop and this wasn’t a valid GS to raise the HWM to get 600 items to drop. Once you hit the max 590 HWM you get a +10 GS drop range allowing you to get up to 600GS from 64+ mobs / chest.
The one thing that isn’t clear is what level chests are in landmarks. I would like to see a dev post if a chest in a 61 non-elite landmark is actually a level 61 and a chest in a level 62 non-elite landmark is 62 , etc
I find myself stuck at 529 farming the 5 solo towns in SH with 5 or 6 items at 529 HWM and not getting any higher. All 15 armor (type / slot) are at 520 - 529 and weapons are more spread out ranging from 508 - 529.
