I cannot for the life of me get this game to not crash, please any suggestions would be appreciated

So basically the game is currently unplayable for me. I have a great PC, I’ve done everything I could, updated drivers, reinstalled the game, verified integrity, lowered graphic settings. At first it was crashing maybe every 10 min or so, yesterday I even got it to run a couple hours crash free. Now it freezes within a couple of minutes. I have no idea what else to do. I heard the game doesn’t run well on windows 11 but I’ve heard of others running win 11 and they have no issue. These are my PC specs

RTX-3090
32G RAM
i9-10900K CPU

Best guess would be heat.

Mine would crash after 30min constantly until i cleaned out everything, swapped some fans to get heat down.

possible but my CUP temp rarely exceeds 65C, coolant at around 45.

I can run Cyberpunk on ultra with zero crashing and temps in the 70s

first thing that comes to my mind is graphic card drivers bc in the past people weren’t even able to start the game bc there was something going on with grapic card drivers. just a guess, but it’s better than nothing^^

I have all the latest graphics drivers installed. I triple checked

Hi @hughes.d60.

which version nvidia you have ? win 22h2 update ca give lags probs in game.

I’m having a similar issue for the last 2 weeks. It appears to be audio related for me as I start to get cracks/pops thru my speakers or headphones before it crashes. Then usually a final action that triggers a sound effect causes me to crash. My game.log file has entries like these at the end of it:
<2022-10-01 19:04:45.477>: [Info]: [Vivox] VoiceChatSystemComponent: invalid input device id {0.0.1.00000000}.{c5775164-e4a6-4e61-8bfa-a0aa0f5ffa60}
<2022-10-01 19:04:45.477>: [Info]: [Vivox] VoiceChatSystemComponent: invalid output device id {0.0.0.00000000}.{4051765e-ca0c-4b38-ac96-8787a46bfef5}
<2022-10-01 19:04:50.139>: [Info]: [ERROR] ReadFile returned 15

The only thing I’ve found to work for me is literally disabling every single audio device in device manager and playing without sound. Give that a try, check out your game.log file in %appdata%\local\AGS and report back

May not have anything to do with your problem.

I have over 1,000 hours in the game. I never really had a freeze problem. But a couple of weeks ago, one morning, the game kept freezing. In Windows 10 > task manager > performance > resource monitor, after freezing I watched the disk activity of the new world process and kept seeing it accessing files like :
steamapps\common\New World\assets\DataStrm-part29.pak
and
%LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\DXCache\blahblahblah.toc

I googled about this guessing that it had something to do with video card shader cache problems. I found a reddit post on an EscapefromTarkov titled “Pro tip - clear the DirectX Shader Cache after updates” and another one in thedivision titled “PSA - When people say delete your shader cache after driver updates, they aren’t kidding.”

I did what those said about how to delete my shader caches for DirectX and Nvidia. Rebooted and the freezing when away.

I hope it helps you.

My specs:
i7 4790 3.6GHz
RTX 2070
16GB
SSD

Just reporting back, on my issue. I don’t have a fix, but I disabled all sound devices in the device manager (making me play without sound) and had no crashing for 12+hr yesterday. The second I plug in a headset, or reenable my onboard x570 soundcard the crashing begins again.

Only way I can play right now is without audio. Sad :frowning:\

Even did a fresh windows install again, and same exact problem. I think some windows update or driver update is not playing nice with the latest version of the game.
